You can find anything here. Prices were not bad. Staff is so friendly and helpful. Much easier than buying in the French Quarter.
We visited this place on our way back from a swamp tour. It is a nice store, but comparing prices for identical items we found in the french quarter, this store is approx 20 percent more for the exact same item. For this reason, would not recommend.
My guy is native to Slidell. He helped clean things up in there after Katrina. Said he used to sit up on the roof and watch the national guard helicopters go in and out. Relaxed place, nice environment and very friendly people. There's much to look at and so many fun little things! Ohhh... 3 words... Mardi. Gras. Dip. Have fun!
Found this place on the way home from New Orleans via Slidell. It kind of sneaks up on you, so be careful. Everything Louisiana. Awesome pralines, very friendly staff.
Stopped in while visiting the area. I love the hot sauce collections including the Tabasco charcoal chips! The pralines are a bit pricey, however did have to buy a couple to try. They have a good selection of t-shirts, so I had to have one of those too! The cafe was just reopening today and if we'd been closer to lunch time we would have stayed for lunch. Definitely a place to visit as the people are very nice and there's a lot to explore.
My pralines were stale, and they were a bit over priced I can't return them I live too far I tried the turtles they were good .
We stopped here on our way out of New Orleans. The store is huge. They have cajun cooking supplies, jams, honey, souvenirs, cds of Louisiana music - just about anything you could want as a souvenir or gift. The workers are very friendly and helpful. We had a great time looking at everything. There is also a café which has delicious food.
Although it's just a "general store", this place has a huge variety of things to look at and buy. We didn't try their pralines, but they were cooking fresh batches as we were perusing. The building itself is pretty cool to see and well decorated. We were greeted with friendly smiles and "hey, y'all"s, which was very nice. At one point, one of the staff noticed me carrying some items and brought me a basket! If you're coming from out of town, there's a lot to see and buy. This includes food items, treats, shirts, mugs, shot glasses, books, CDs, lights, stuffed animals, voodoo dolls, and other assorted decorations. The variety is large as the shopping area is pretty big. Their shopping bags emulate crawfishing bags, which is a pretty nifty souvenir in itself! The only downside is that it doesn't warrant much for repeat visits. You can wander the whole place in about a half hour or so, but it's more than just a store. If they had the cafe in the back of the building operational, this could definitely be a 5-rated venue for me.
I buy their honey made from swamp flowers. It is the best honey I have ever tasted. I have bought so many beach themed pretty's for my home There. Great food also.
Every time we come to Slidell we stop, best place to shop and get pralines from Florida to Texas.... Love this place...LINDA & BD Root
This a great place to go to see and purchase local food, apparel, etc. They have every thing you can imagine. It is a wonderful place to go to do your souvenir shopping and not get the junk that you might get in the city.
This place was one time in the French Qtr at the top of Jackson Brewery. I do not know why they moved but glad they did. This place is full of South Louisiana themed gifts. The small cafe at one end of the store is super. The home baked pies, bread pudding and everything is fantastic. I really like the bread pudding!!. Then at the other end of store is where the pralines are made with generous samples. We live nearby, but I can not go there to often as the food is just too good. They gifts are varied and several unique items, some items are pricey, but we have found some good deals..
It is open Monday-Saturday, and not only has any type of Louisiana gift item, the food is delicious. It is well worth a stop and the pralines are the best.
This place is amazing. Anything you could imagine from Louisiana is in this store. Plus some lagniappe (something extra) - friendly clerks, a free sample of pralines, and the delicious cafe in the back. For Geocachers, there's a cache nearby. And a bonus is that they have just acquired a new chef with numerous regional awards. My wife and I live nearby, and occasionally go to just eat lunch. There is also a lot of tourist info, and sometimes a travel advisor volunteer to give you some help. For convenience, it's right off Interstate 10 on the east service road between Exits 261 and 263.
The little cafe inside is good doesn't offer many things but good the store it self has many things but alittle pricey. I think if they offer more food and brought store prices down alittle they would have more business
