mequet swamp tours

We were down in this area around Aug the 19th 2014 Stopped at this tour location and really glad we did Mitch was more than willing to take only three of us ,most of the places want at least 4 or more Which could leave you waiting for sometime and still not get to go This group I think will take one or two The tour we went on was great Mitch stopped in several places and fed us info on the swamp and never seemed to be in a hurry or impatient We saw a lot of wildlife no deer but several alligators some were pretty big I do not think it matters which guide you use as I think both are probably very knowledgeable and patient Do not hesitate to ask questions and talk as they are very open and friendly people Really can't say anymore than it was an awesome trip and if you are in the area use this tour group. They charge a little more but think it is well worth the difference

We can't compare to other guides in the area because we have not used them I will say he is very safe and seems to have all the time in the world His rates are a little more than others ,the reason for this is he does not really have a minimum number in a group. Most only go with 4 or more We stopped up the road at the first tour site over the levee and they suggest us go to Mequet one reason is they were booked for the 3 pm tour and the 1 pm had just left .Plus with only three of us would have to wait to see if a 4 th showed up Meg took us out did not promise us anything in the way of seeing wild life .We did see several alligators and birds Just the ride alone was well worth the money spent . We were on the water a good two hours Any of the places on the levee road or not found with a GPS usually Most everyone uses the town of Henderson which is what you have to go thru but if you will put Breaux Bridge as the city it will take you right to it The best way is take I -10 east or west to the 115 exit if headed east then turn right onto Grandpoint Highway and then an almost immediate left onto Henderson there is a exon station on the corner .If headed west exit 115 take a left on Grandpoint and then left on Henderson Go to the road makes a T turn right basin is the first road over the levee and Mequet is the third There will be a sign that says Cypress something

I went on the Air Boat swamp tour of the Atchafalaya Basin and was blown away by how beautiful that swamp actually was.The airboat really allowed for us to get deep into the wilderness. Our tour guide Jude was extremely knowledgeable about all of the plant and wild life. He especially knew a lot about the alligators in the area. We were even able to get up close to a couple of them. Also, riding on the airboat was really fun! I would definitely recommend this tour for any one looking for an adventure in the swamp.
