Each summer we spend a month at our cottage in nearby Bath. We always get tickets to whatever summer musical is playing at Maine State Music Theatre on the campus of Bowdoin College. In past years we've seen Gypsy, Xanadu and Legally Blonde, to name a few. This summer we saw 7 Brides for & Brothers. In all honesty, it was our least favorite to date, but we still had an enjoyable evening. The theater is lovely with good sound, the ticket prices are inexpensive, the ushers are always friendly and efficient, and the crowds are relaxed. We recommend this to anyone who happens to be lucky enough to spend some time in Mid-Coast Maine in the summer.
This was out second time to the Maine State Music Theatre, and we were again impressed with the quality of the play! The actors, the set, the costuming were all superb. Unfortunately we live too far to attend on a regular basis, otherwise we'd be season ticket holders. The performance was sold out, so recommend you get tickets early.
The talent and production values at this regional theater rival New York. I saw "7 Brides" and "Footloose" and was blown away. what a little gem tucked away in the mid coast of Maine.
I kid you not. After seeing four different shows at MSMT I am convinced that local theatre is where it's at. And you don't have to be local to love it. You will come back again and again, if you aren't here year round. Equity actors at reasonable prices. What more could you ask?"Footloose" was a wonderful season-ender. After seeing it, I wished that there was JUST ONE MORE musical show to end the 2014 season. The cast is fabulously talented and all deserve to go far!I am definitely buying seasons tickets for next year.
The seating was great, very comfortable, and no problem seeing the musical.Helpful folks and friendly atmostphere.
We had tickets for two evenings to the theatre. Godspell in Concert and 7 Brides for 7 Brothers. We could have sat through these two shows over and over. The talent is outstanding. Impressive dancing to say the least and set design was professional. Should add that they have the best seats … comfortable with plenty of leg room!!! Ticket prices are a great value. Kudos to the interns and artists of this theatre. We will be back.
Having visited MSMT for several years on our annual visits to Maine, last night's presentation of the musical was fantastic. The dancing was energetic and the stage sets colorful and energetic. Great acting--we throughly enjoyed our evening!
Well done godspell The theater group does a very good job. The theater is small so there are no bad seats
Saw 7 Brides for 7 Brothers. Was very disappointed with the amount of suggestive and sexual acting. Found it to be very inappropriate. The program mentioned it was a good show for the whole family however I would walked out if I had had my family there and very nearly walked out with just my wife and I there. Extremely disappointed with this performance and wasn't expecting this as I've seen other performances there and was quite pleased with them.
Just saw "7 Brides for 7 Brothers". This group did a great production we all enjoyed. The "Goin Courtin'" number was one of the funniest stage songs I've ever seen. Great talent in the group of performers and a great set design. The theater is small bit the seats were comfortable and provided good views.
We saw Chamberlain, A Civil War Musical, and it was terrific. The actors were extremely talented and professional. The theatre itself is very nice with excellent sound and acoustics. Although we were very close, I don't think any seats would be bad since the theatre is fairly small. We have been to several local theatres and this one is by far the best because of its professional actors. Prices are reasonable and worth the little bit extra for quality entertainment. Highly recommend.
A professional Equity company performing some of musical theatre's greatest (and some lesser known) shows.
with 4 different shows over the summer MSMT gets outstanding national talent to bring wonderful musical theater to the Brunswick area.
Saturday night, June 7th, was the first weekend performance of MSMT's "The Buddy Holly Story". I was stunned by the hard work, professionalism, and talent that I saw. To say the performance was awesome seems hackneyed, but I had to write this review to let everyone know that if tickets are available you HAVE to see this performance. The cast was magnificent. It made you wanna shout (put your hands up, shout…).
We have had a subscription to MSMT for several years. Tonights show: The Buddy Holly Story was one of the best shows we have seen here. We saw the show in London and enjoyed this performance more!!! Good Job MSMT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
