I'm waiting for more than an hour to get a refund! I didn't like it and just want to leave but it seems not with my money......
I visited on the opening dai in July 2013 while waiting for an Aerlingus Flight. Possibly not the best day to review, but the experience fell so far short of what I had been used to in the Oasis Lounge when Aerlingus operated out of T1 that I left after a few minutes and asked for my money back. I've never done that before anywhere. The complimentary stuff is minimal. If I wanted to pay for food after paying the entry fee I'd have done better in the main terminal. A $10 "credit" to use for food is just plain tacky. felt it wasn't just small.it was claustrophobic and the white plasticky chairs are reminiscent of early burger shacks. Because the main terminal facilities and ambience are actually better than most other terminals in JFK and the lounge is so much worse than all of the others available, the Terminal is actually the better value. I wrote to Aerlingus about my experience but got no reply. I won't be back.
Nice lounge at terminal 5. Entrance fee is $25, which includes a $10 credit for food/drinks at the bar. Most of the items are under $10, so the credit is a good deal. The food choices are definitely snack and glorified snacks, not really full meals. There are plenty of plugs in the lounge area, and the bathrooms (including the shower bathroom) are nice and clean. As a few of the previous posters noted, the space itself is small, and the staffing is lean. I've visited twice, and I've always gotten the service I needed, but I've always had to wait a few minutes to talk a staffer. So it's not a luxury lounge where people wait on you hand and foot. I've gotten in free using my Amex Platinum card. I would not pay if it wasn't for the free access with the credit card. If you really need a shower upon arrival, I'd recommend paying $25 for the lounge. Otherwise, I think just spending $25 in a terminal restaurant seems like a better value.
I had 4 hours to kill and was pleasantly surprised to find a lounge with a one day few of only $20. Typically I would use the USO, but it was closed and there is no DL sky club here, so this was the best option. For the positive - it was early in the morning and the space was really quiet. That was about all this place had going for it. Wifi was extremely slow, food was only moderate at best, and drinks are overpriced as you would expect to find at an airport. If you have lots of time to kill and the place isn't busy, it's not bad to get away from the airport crowd, but don't expect fast internet or good service.
I usually fly Delta or United and in that context most of these reviews do not seem to make any sense at all. So I felt the need to chime in. You get a load of free items (good espresso/capp/coffee, soft drinks, fruit, snack mix, etc) plus a $10 credit on top of that. And the food is all under $10, so you're getting something like a very nice charcuterie plate for free. And, oh yeah, you get nice seating, separate restrooms (w/cool toilets) and a very quiet space compared to sitting at the gate. That's a very solid deal. And there's also a very nice shower....that, again, is free of additional charge. Sure, there are better lounges when you're paying $5,000 for a business class ticket, but this is not that. This should be compared to something like the United Club in Terminal 7. That's a fair comparison. And in that light, Airspace Lounge is vastly superior. Airspace has a better look, better furniture, FAR better food and beverage, far better showers, far better coffee, and I'd say equal staff. The only problem is its size during busy times. It needs to be bigger.
I was looking at a 6 hour layover after an overseas flight and I was desperate for somewhere to shower. This lounge fit the bill perfectly. I was the first one through the doors, the one shower was clean, and clean towels and toiletries were provided. As far as the rest of the lounge, it's average at best, sparsely stocked refreshments and relatively small seating area. They do have food and alcoholic drinks for purchase, and every guest does receive a $10 credit. In my case it was well worth the $25+tax just to take a shower, otherwise I probably wouldn't recommend this place.
JetBlue and American Express should be embarrassed about any association with this JFK. Lounge. It is remotely located, very small and understaffed. The service here is abysmal. There was one person working the bar (also responsible for food orders). I waited in line (with 5 people ahead of me) for 10 minutes and then left the lounge. They have good wireless, but that is it. This place needs a complete reboot. Skip it!
I am an Amex platinum member so I was able to use this lounge free of charge. Came in after a Jetblue flight from PR and had a long layover so I thought if check it out. Tiny, and cramped even though there were only a few other people there. As the last reviewer mentioned I was surprised to see the staff lolly gagging around and playing on their smartphones the entire time I was there (the guy at front desk did not have his phone on silent so I heard an obnoxious ding every time he got a text...prob about 25 times in the hour i was there). Not very relaxing....Ordered the cheese plate ($8) and a glass of house white ($7). After my $10 credit, the bill came to $12. I questioned this and was told it was tax. $5 tax I asked? Yes she said. I asked for the line item receipt, and they had charged me $13 for the cheese. I only ordered this to use the credit so it was a but frustrating that they then had to cancel the charge in my card, and re-charge with the correct ($6) amount. I think the $10 credit idea is a bit of a scam, since you end up paying more than $10 in most cases and if you're not careful they will overcharge you...one of the beers on the menu was $21 for a glass....!!!Bottom line - if you can get in free fine, get one free bud light and be on your way. If not, don't waste your $25....
This is the first lounge to open at JFK's terminal 5. Open to all, for a fee which starts at $25 or $35 depending on how full the lounge is. They do not accept cash. On my first visit, it was all but empty, however I was charged the $35. This includes a credit of $10 which can be used to buy food or beverage items. Free items include, coffee's and tea's including free cappuccino and espresso, dispensed sodas and bar snacks. The menu comprises of a number of light dining options which includes, a breakfast sandwich, sandwich of the day, a cheese plate, salad, soups and sweets. Most of these items come in small offerings. I ordered the hot croissant with bacon, scrambled egg and Swiss cheese, priced at $8 from my $10 credit. This item was obviously per-prepared and heated in a microwave oven. Some items are also available to go. Wine and beer seem moderately overpriced.Wireless internet is complimentary and after a few bundled attempts at logging in, I found the speed to be adequate. There is a small business area which is separated by glass where one can work in a more quiet environment and make use of the complimentary printing facility. This lounge does allow children which I am sure would not be ideal in some situations.One of the main reasons I chose to use this facility was its advertised shower facilities, which I discovered to be one shower facility. Having traveled from Cape Town via Dubai to JFK with a layover of 8 hours before my connection to Portland ME, the only thought in my mind was the opportunity to take a shower and freshen up. The shower/rest room is spacious, bright and includes an automatic commode with a heated seat, water jet cleaning and drying features which are great if you are particularly concerned about personal hygiene, especially after traveling for over 24 hours by air. I was provided with an amenity kit containing a toothbrush, toothpaste, razor, shaving cream, soap, shampoo and conditioner, a nice touch. The bathroom also includes a departures and arrivals monitor which is set into the mirror. The shower consists of a large sprayer head and a hand held shower and seat for those who are mobility challenged. Unfortunately the water pressure was poor and temperature fluctuated too frequently from extremely hot to freezing cold. A bath mat was provided to use as a towel; apparently they had run out of towels. The sink water temperature is not hot enough for shaving and the sensor is too finicky. All things considered; I felt refreshed and clean.The only real negative aspect was that the staff tend to congregate at the end of the bar, chatting, eating, drinking and using their communication devices in full view of the customers which in my opinion should not be allowed. In conclusion, this lounge has great potential and I do believe that once the initial lose ends are dealt with, it will become very popular.
