james-ben: studio & gallery art center

The owner has died, and now this gallery is a very nice gift shop called Richland Creek Gifts. This is actually *much* better than James Ben was in its declining years, and well worth a visit!

This to establishment is getting a facelift so it's closed. It has been under renovation and is still not open the public. It is August 2013 and it's still not open or completed.

The gallery is located in a free standing building in historic downtown Greeneville on the corner of Main and Church Streets. I have been going there since shortly after it opened and presently have several items from there in my home. The Gallery is an ever changing showcase of local art spanning the spectrum from oils and watercolors to very detailed wood inlays to original, hand crafted jewlery,crystal, glassware and more.. It is not very large but it is a space filled with an amazing assortment of pieces that keep bringing you back. James-Ben himself is a jovial, outgoing and entertaining man who can regale you wth stories about the individal artists and delight you with his historical knowledge of the NE Tennessee area.I will definitely recommend the Studio and Gallery to you as a "must see" place to visit.
