We were looking for something to do the weekend after the holidays. Something fun, but easy. We were able to get tickets to Little Women the day before the Saturday night show. It was a very good play. The set is simple, and the theater is on the smaller side. They don't have rows of seats, but tables since this is a dessert theater. The desserts were actually quite good. We split the chocolate mouse cake and it was very rich, but delicious. They do have table service for tea, coffee, and water. It is a BYOB, which is nice! In the production that we saw, there was some great singing. We were impressed with some of the actors/actresses. Two tickets cost @$60. This was a great, unique date night! (By the way, they say that doors open at 7, but we had to wait about ten minutes. A regular told us they usually open the doors @7:10, but the line does move slow. There is no reason to get there early. They do have a table assigned to you.)
For an enjoyable evening out eat dinner in Hopewell Borough and then attend a performance at Broadstreet Theatre. We have gone since they started years ago and have never been disappointed. The Thicks have done a phenomenal job of bringing young, energetic and talented performers to their theatre. The deserts are excellent also.
What an enjoyable time! We just saw a production of DIRTY ROTTEN SCOUNDRELS and the show was delightful. Having seen it on Broadway, the bar was set high. this production did not disappoint. The talented cast was energetic and fun. They kept up with the fast pace of this show and didn't miss a note! The theater is cabaret style and the delicious dessert is included with your ticket.coffee and tea are available and the young wait staff was pleasant and attentive.Bob and Julie Thick have a great thing going OFF BROADSTREET, be sure to check it out!
The shows are reasonably priced for such great entertainment. I used to take my daughter to the children's performances, so was pleasantly surprised to find such great talent locally. The enthusiasm is infectious and with so many restaurants around the corner, it makes for a great evening with friends or family.
This family run venue has been in Hopewell for thirty years and has consistently produced well-directed plays. Professional actors mingle with talented amateurs and they create amazing sets on a shoestring! This is a dessert theatre so come early to settle in for delicious pies, bars, cakes etc. before the performance. Take full advantage of this local, colourful gem for a great night out.
I wanted to say Play with food but, that sort of is, just wrong. This is a great place for many off broadway players to come off season. Well done place with a lot of energy put in to it. Its a small place, and way off the real Broadway but, smart. They give you a real bang for your buck and throw in desert and coffee. Now you could kvetch about the chairs, the tables, the size of the slice of pie you got instead of that delicious cake they just sold the last of, or even the where you sat. Don't. Just enjoy. Its worth at least one go round. We had dinner in town and came for the show. That night it was "There's a Burgler In My Bed" and they did a bang up job.
