This place had the potential to be a good waterparl, but the reality is that its not complete. Their still building around it and still adding on to the park. The waterpark is in a good location but is not the best attraction in the area.
ok Let's not lie, it's a bit expensive. We had to save up to go & it was worth every penny. Just please, PLEASE, make sure you wear sunblock. I wanted to close the place out, but there were members of our party that didn't adhere to aforementioned advice. My 8 year old LOVED the Torrent River. It's a really good place for kids to practice swimming. His skills were put to the test and strengthened only b/c he ditched the tube. I did not expect that, bonus!. My concern with tubing the Kristal River & Blitz Falls, is that you will be separated from your group. Which is wonderful if your trying to get away from them, but if you have young'ns that don't swim well, it's a little unnerving. BUT there are plenty of places you can step out of your tube and wait for them. And while your waiting in water with a current, your calves will get one heck of a work out trying to A: stay put, B: stay above water. bonus number 2!, Then when you finally get your child back, you find they are relaxing calmly in their tubes and not actually crying in terror as you visualized. Then you hold on to their tube and, bonus 3, shoulder work out! I don't want to make it sound like it was a bunch of work, but if a park can amuse, entertain, relax, & provide a great workout, I'm willing to save again. annnd demand sunscreen application.
we went on a family vacation to Kansas City and this was a highlight of our trip! My husband had never been to a water park and he loved his first adventure on a lazy raft river. This is a great family friendly water park.
Just a great water park with different types of rides. I did not think the price was high since you do not pay for parking and can bring in your food and drinks (not alcohol). If you are going to visit the park three times or more get a yearly membership.
We went to Schlitterbahn over the summer. Had a blast until we lost our keys. The staff were more than helpful and allowed us to use their phones to contact AAA to get help unlocking our vehicle. Then a few months later they found our keys and mailed them to us. Next time we will rent a locker instead of trying to be frugal.
A bit on the costly side, but well worth it. It is a great family fun place to visit. Really fun if you go when it is cold outside and you can be playing in the water and be nice and warm.
I visited Schlitterbahn and let me tell you there is no better thing then spending a amazing day in the cool Schlitterbahn Water Park. Not the biggest of water parks, but it is very nice, they have something for everyone, i loved Black Knight Tube Slide, Blitz Fall and the highlight was the newly opened Verruckt, this is one hell of a ride. Very nice place, definitely recommend.
We visited the Schlitterbahn July 2014, it was my spouse and I with our two children ages 3 and 8. We rented a cabana and brought in our own picnic lunch. We highly recommend the cabana as is was wonderful to have our own space reserved and used for the entire day. We didn't have to worry about our things as much. It was a tad pricey but worth it. We didn't ride any of the slides because the lines were too long but we did go on the King Kaw several times and the wave pool was alot of fun too. We were there for about 5 hours and enjoyed every minute. We'll definitely be returning!
I have been to Schlitterbahn in KC a few times now and I really enjoy it. It's not the biggest water park but the rides they have are a lot of fun. I especially like the river rapids/lazy river ride. We did the cheaper option of arriving after 3pm and it was more than enough time to ride every thing. My boyfriends 7 year old niece even grabbed a life jacket and journeyed out on her own for an hour. She loved it! Tubes are free and you can bring a cooler with your own food and drinks (no booze of course) which cuts down the costs. Definitely recommend for a day trip!
I have had season passes three of the last four years at Schlitterbahn. The park is improving by adding more attractions. I just wish they would continue to add on and add cabins and treehouse cabins, per their original plans. That sure would add to the overall atmosphere of the park and would probably boost attendance. I also think more attractions would help because the park is usually packed.
We went to Schlitterbahn for two reasons this past weekend: 1) To have fun and 2) To ride Verruckt. Check and Check! We followed the wise advice of others here on Trip Adviser and arrived to the park an hour before it opened, which seemed like a great decision when the doors were opened about 30 minutes early to accommodate everyone getting their wrist bands to enter the park. We then waited in line to enter the park and get in line for a reservation to ride Verruckt. Once the Park opened, we walked to the Verruckt reservation line and placed our cooler and towels on a picnic table along the way. We waited about 20 minutes to get our reservation, and once we had been weighed and received our reservation time, we split up to get in the locker line and get tubes to ride on. (Tip: Bring cash for the locker ($10 should be good)...they may have a second worker offering locker keys to those with cash...and that could save you a good deal of time). After this, we were off to have fun as we waited to ride Verruckt. Even though the park was packed the day we were there, we had a great time. We brought our own lunch in a cooler and that also gave us more time to play (the lines for food can get quite long). Then we went to ride Verruckt...and it was a blast! If you like thrill rides, it is for you! The climb up was good exercise and while it may seem a bit intimidating, it is well worth the wait! The variety of other rides and attractions were fun, too, including the rapids. We recommend the park and Verruckt.
My family are season pass holders. I was lucky to ride Verruckt 6 times and it was awesome every time. I love this park. Bringing in your own food is a great idea. We have left our cooler unattended and never had a bad experience. I recommend mid week trips as there are less people.
Drove 500 miles one way to experience the highest Waterslide in the world. But experienced the longest wait time. Totally unorganized. Apart from the Slide - Verruckt every other ride does not even worth to mention. Park opened at 10 and we were there at 1030AM - The Verruckt reservations were full for the day. Went straight to the walk in line. Waited and took the ride around 3PM. It was not scary, it seemed like an average roller coaster. Will not suggest to anyone else other than people of Kansas City or near by places.
We had fun on a Sunday. We showed up at 9:30am and waiting in a line to check in with tickets we printed off from online. Not sure why we had to wait in a line with everyone else who had not purchased tickets but it did not take very long. It was at the end of the season in August. We put all our stuff on a shaded table right by the wave pool. It was nice to be able to sit there at lunch and eat in the shade. No one bothered our stuff and we put our cell phones and cash in the locker. We also got some chairs but did not use them, so next time I would just get the table. There was no lines until about 11:30. So if you get there early do the slides as many times as possible because the lines will get so long it will be an hour wait! We left around 2pm. It was plenty of time for everyone in my family. Also, another perk because it was at the end of the season everything in the store was 50% off!! That was awesome. I recommend going into the store to purchase food instead of standing in line outside by the pools. The line is so much shorter inside by the store.
Liked the new water slide and the lazy river, did not like how unorganized the lines were and how mismanaged they were with how to quickly get guest onto the different activities. Better management and staff could easily fix the problems but only had 1 staff member interaction the entire day that seemed to care.
