We actually ran into Yonah Mountain Vineyard when we were looking for Serenity Cellars. We decided to go in and do a wine flight. They have about 8 wines for you to sample and we did like the Meritage wine was really good. My wife liked the ice wine too. The staff was friendly and we did like the view and atmosphere. They have live music too.
We spent weekend with another couple hitting about 10 wineries in mountains and ended with our highlight at Yonah. The owner was very charming and welcoming and had the opportunity to wine taste with him. The Genesis red wine is to die for and would hold it up to any wines out there. Will be back for sure!
I went with friends for a wine tasting. The experience was wonderful. The owner reviewed each pour and educated us on the type of grape used and the process involved. Their Genesis Cab is delicious. I during a lot of Cab, and I'd rate it a 95. Try their best wine Totum, it explodes on your palate. I don't drink white wine , their Chardonnay would be a wonderful summer wine.
My family and I were able to visit the vineyard and winery this December. It was a great location and beautiful property. The wine is always a treat and our favorite is the LaFin dessert wine. We did visit last year as well, buy they were just in a store front then in the village. A great improvement and perfect for your wine tour around Helen and Cleveland.
Yonah Mtn Vineyard is located in Northern Georgia, not far from the little town of Dahlonega. It's out of the way, but worth the trip if you are anywhere nearby. We visited on the Saturday after Thanksgiving and there was a steady stream of people stopping by to have a glass of wine either by the fire in the main building or sitting outside enjoying the view and the beautiful late Fall weather, along with the live music. There also seemed to be a number of people visiting to see the new function facility, currently under construction. Everything here is done with effortless grace and elegance, right down to the lovely salt scrub in the bathrooms (and yes they are really nice). The venue is gorgeous, the buildings and furnishings are perfect and the staff are very professional and knowledgeable, yet friendly and welcoming. And then there is the wine, what a wonderful surprise to find such perfectly crafted wine in the middle of Northern Georgia. We tasted the Chardonnay along with the Meritage and Genesis reds and none disappointed. The wines are not inexpensive, but well worth their cost. We took home two of each we tasted. This is a don't miss spot if you are in the area.
My husband and I got a chuckle at the speed limit signs on the way in…..12 ½ miles per hour. I think the next one was 3 miles per hour. It seems as if the owner has a quirky sense of humor…gotta love it! The tasting room is a spectacular domed building with one of the NICEST BATHROOMS I have ever been in! The staff was friendly, informative and very helpful. I give them 5 stars for sure. Despite the awe-inspiring scenery and beautiful surroundings, the wine was only average at best. Nothing really jumped out as something I would want to purchase and bring home, especially at the prices they were charging. We are hoping that the wine will improve in time. We loved the atmosphere and views and would love to come back on day when the music is playing and the weather is warmer.Definitely worth a visit!

Yonah Mountain Vineyards is a good experience in wine tasting. The wines are very good although quite experience - higher than comparable wineries in the area. The facilities are quite nice and very new.
My wife and I stopped by here while staying near Helen, Ga. We did a wine tasting and tried to get on one of the tours but there were two weddings that day and all three time slots were booked up. The wines we tried were excellent and our sommelier was very knowledgeable about the wine and any questions that we asked. We bought two bottles and some glasses and will be back to try the tour. Would highly recommend visiting and seeing everything that Yonah Mountain Vineyards has to offer.
The new building is very beautiful and the location is perfect. The staff was super friendly and they had some live music during our tastings. We enjoyed all of the wines we tried, but definitely the location makes it worth returning!!
We always try to visit Yonah Mountain Winery when we're in north Georgia. The wines are fantastic (a little higher price point then the surrounding wineries) and they continue to get better with time. The tasting room is gorgeous with almost 360 degree views of the vineyards. They are starting construction on a new event facility which will likely be just as beautiful! This is a definite must for wine lovers...you'll be shocked at how well the quality competes (and I would argue exceeds) the quality coming out of Napa.
Wonderful experience on the Wine Cave Tour. Very unique experience. We have visited many wineries in GA, NC, TN, VA and CA and Yonah ranks in our Top 5 places. The wine is excellent and the atmosphere is sophisticated as well as warm and comfortable.
YMV was not on my radar until I received a gift certificate to go check it out. The setting is beautiful, the staff entertaining, and the wine gives CA a run for its money...literally. I'm ready to come back with a group to enjoy the experience all over again!
I went to the winery last weekend with my husband and two friends. I did the wine tasting, while my husband got a beer. I was glad they had a few beers to choose from since he isn't much of a wine guy. Out of the 7 I tasted, I liked 2 of them. The wine was okay, and I would go back if I were in the area. They are in the process of building some sort of event center, so there was a little bit of construction going on. The grounds were neatly manicured, minus the gravel road going in. (I sort of felt like I was driving to a campground or something.) The staff members were friendly once they came to us. I felt like they were slow for the number of people who were in the winery at the time. Again, I would go back if I were in the area..but surely wouldn't make a special trip.
We were given a gift certificate from some friends for the wine "cave" tour, it was nothing that I expected the "cave" was basically a cellar with concrete walls and a bunch of stuff in them the second one they did was nicer. The tour was OK the guide which he said he was the owner told us the history which was nice but then he had to tell us how much he paid for everything which was becoming annoying. So apparently they have spent 8 million dollars for the place so far but I wish they would have spent some of that money on the road and removed the gravel! The staff was friendly, place was clean and lots of people. Out of the 9 wines we tried I only liked the Genesis 5, the dessert wine was so sweet it tasted like pure sugar water. So we bought a bottle of wine only to find out after we got home it had a pin hole on the top and it leaked wine, thank god only in the bag otherwise I would have been pissed, I have called and they said they were going to FedEx me out another one but also told me if I do not receive it in 3 weeks to call back, which took me for a surprise why in the world would it take 3 weeks to ship? I would go back its a short hour and fifteen minute drive from Decatur, GA.
