stephen's gulch conservation area

It has been a few years since we hiked in this area but this is a lovely place to hike. Bring water.

This conservation area is a hidden gem located just north of the Town of Bowmanville There is a small parking lot and a money box where a small fee can be submitted. Once inside the trails start off in a mixed forest that leads through a lower area where it you cross over a few small brooks and can catch sights of a wide variety of birds. Further into the trail an uphill portion of the trail leads to an open meadow which gives you a feeling of being further north than you really are. There are couple of spinoff trails that offer some extra viewing of a stream. The middle portion of the trail however can be challenging if you are pushing a stroller as it is an uphill climb on a sandy surface. But once on top the trail resumes a harder dirt surface. You certainly cannot go wrong taking a hike here
