While in Alaska, and taking a stop in Wasilla, it's only right to take a look at the one place that delivers Alaska's heritage on a miniature scale, the Alaska Live Steamers. Me and my grandparents were in that area, and we stopped at the place. It turned out that the people there recently moved to a new location, which we were at. The new area was under construction at the time June 15, 2014. The track was a small circle, but can be ridden on twice We talked about trains to the people there, looked around at the locomotives, payed up, and rode the train. The price is $5 per person. Amazing. They had little areas along the side, and looked like miniature towns with small people. (I heard that kids really like the small dinosaur area.) We looked inside of the shed and saw the rest of the 7 1.2 inch collection. There was a lot, even a small hand-car, mostly used by kids, but inspired me to build one for myself. The people there were friendly, and gave me advice about a new train simulator, Run 8. (I need to buy that.) It' s fun little place, and worth the money.

Seeing as the railroad help develop Alaska, this is an educational experience as well as entertaining. This model train ride only operates on Saturdays starting on June 22 this year until the second Saturday in September. Check out the pictures on the website. I am planning a return trip with my grandchildren this summer. You straddle the cars and there are no set belts, so I wouldn't recommend small children that are hard to control. The scenery is magnificent. The model train builders have done a wonderful job with the scenery, the town sets and even a bridge! The price is $5 per person but they accept all donations and memberships. All Aboard!!
