We finally located this museum but it appeared to be closed on the Tuesday morning we visited Selma. It was dark inside and no one was around. It looks very run down.
This place open my eyes a the people who work there if very wonderful speakers . Must visit again for more information Call 334-526-4000
Helpful historians who take the time to share valuable information about life in the old south, slavery, famous families, etc. Well worth the visit.
My overall visit was okay but there's room for improvement! For example, focus on the work of the "Courageous Eight". Display more documents pertaining to the voting rights movement among these courageous individuals.Always room for improvements!
i used to do volunteer work at this museum it has really great exhibits i was very impressed with the walk though the most important part of the tour was when we formed a line and did the slave walk as well as the boat ride
Highly commend a visit to this place. Not a long time consuming visit, but educational, enlightening and therapeutic.Very well presented.
I visited this museum and was shocked of how they preserved the historic articles. This place takes your mind back in time.
This museum is an interactive experience in which the museum visitor is being taken as a slave from Africa to Alabama on board a small vessel. During the approximately one hour ordeal, the slave/visitor is separated from his/her friends and family, degraded, humiliated, and taunted. It's a powerful, eye-opening hour. It ends with a candid discussion of each other's thoughts, biases, and fears.
