The village is beautiful. The ski shops seem to lack a lot of equipment. I would have bought new boots and a helmet, but they didn't have my size in either. They only had small helmets available. There are a few restaurants. We haven't eaten in them in a couple years as they were crowded and not that great. The did have a free concert for spring break which was really nice. Rental shops are in the village also.
We decided at the last minute to come here over Presidents weekend. The place was sold out so we ended up at a cabin in Marlington which was lovely….about a 30-40 minute drive but beautiful.Snowshoe mountain is very different than most. Everything is at the top of the hill and not at the bottom. They need to advertise that for starters. There is no lodge. No place to hang out by a fireplace. That's very disappointing. One has to fight for a table at a restaurant or go to the Shaver center cafeteria (not called that on the map) and it's small. The Village is cute but small. There are many rental places owned by different people. There is not one mountain rental. (that we could find) That makes everything very confusing. It's also almost impossible to find the place to purchase lift tickets….and then there is a long line. Maybe we need more places with signs that say Lift Tickets. The lift lines were atrocious! 30-40 minutes and it was cold. There is also no one working these lift lines and the ropes were not long enough. There was guy at the quad who was wonderful but if its a triple chair, forget it. It's extremely expensive so these negative things shocked me. We have skied in MI and CO.There is a shuttle bus but no ski rack on the outside of the bus. You take your skis inside the bus?'I would go back on a different weekend and after A LOT of research because their website is not forthcoming on navigating this mountain. Which is beautiful. It's a shame that whomever developed it did such a poor job.
quaint little village with about a dozen shops, goods are a bit pricey but are name brand, you cant beat their top quality ski jackets
I enjoy the look and feel of Snowshoe Village even if I'm not frequenting the restaurants or stores. Having a central courtyard adds to the experience of being on vacation as opposed to being isolated in a hotel overlooking a parking lot.The nice part is that you don't have to spend any money in the restaurants or stores if you choose to bring your own food and don't need any gear or clothing. But if you do have needs, you will pay for the convenience. Paying full MSRP plus $5 for a shirt seemed a bit spiteful, especially when the MSRP was already $55. Oh well... it was my choice. My rating is actually somewhere between average and very good. Snowshoe wouldn't be an enjoyable destination if there were just condos on top of the mountain.
Everything was built with the least expensive materials available, maintenance is truly lacking, uncleared walkways, broken doors, broken water fountains. An they charge more than the much nicer resorts.
If you're looking for a ski vacation where you can walk in and walk out of your building with your skis and start at the top of the mountain, the villages is the location. Expedition station has lockers to store your skis in the locker room - 10 steps from the top of the slopes. I don't know about the other buildings but all the others are within close proximity at Village Central.
My family all ski except my wife and she struggled to find a location to sit and read in the village. Starbucks is the only real option and it was packed.
Everything up here is closed. Nothing to do now until winter time Very disappointed. No shops open. Only one restaurant and Starbucks.
Love the village. WE always stay at Mountain Lodge to be near the activity and convenience of the village.
we liked that we could walk around. Everything was close together. Food was great. View was even better
I love the Village at Snowshoe. There are nice stores and restaurants there. My favorite store is Full Tilt, right in the center of the village. The village looks lovely in the winter, with lots of snow.
I have always liked the liked the village look and feel. The food choices are crazy high in price and obviously frozen stuff picked up at Sam's club.... Fox Fire used to be the only good choice but now they have slipped into the abyss. I'd rather drive back down the mountain to the Subway..No real Après-ski experience, well maybe if your a teen... but nothing really note worthy. Still if you can't make it out west and need a quick ski fix, then I would return, bring my own food and entertainment.
I have been to snowshoe in the winter AND the sumer! It is one of my favorite places to visit. Very reasonable prices for lodging, Tickets and events. The snow park and trails are very well maintained and for whatever reason it never seems to be crowded. I spent a 4th of July on the mountain and it ws a fabulous time. rode the 4 wheelers on a tour, it was very well worth it.I am planning on making this a tradition for my family , now that I have a new GRAND BABY!
Loved the feel of the village. Wished they had outdoor apes ski entertainment. Not too crowded, easy to get from one place to the next.
What a view from the top. It snowed that weekend so we had the blessing of visiting when there was natural snowfall. The Village is very unique with the combination of elegant wood condos and european style condos. Quaint shops and restauraunts. Loved the landscaping of the evergreens. When I was walking down a stone pathway of snow covered evergreens with wind gust of snow it was like a dream. My family and I went snow tubing which was a blast. Tubing at the Village is an opportunity to catch some air over the bumps. Did I mentioned the view from tubing park. Spectacular. Staff is friendly, unpretentious. The "locals", deer, are NOT shy and will pose for the camera. We practically shook hooves with a heard crossing the Village street. We had a short weekend but a great moment to be together.Lord let me return next year.
