We took a quick weekend in Portland and it is a lovely little city. The Casco Bay ferry is a really cool way to see the islands in the bay. Mainers have a distinct sense of humor -- loved it!There are different ferries you can take but what I love is that they run year round, even when we were there in December. Most reviews are spot on--it's a must do activity in Portland, especially with the kids (mine are 5 and 8) who really enjoyed it. :-)

check out the tour options for brief or long rides to islands. easy parking nearby. the tourist info center on Commercial St has all the info. Smell the salt air!

So thankful that beautiful Casco Bay is in my backyard. As a child, I spent 3 weeks every summer enjoying the wonders of Casco Bay, never thinking I would be lucky enough to live here. So much to offer...from the mainland to the many islands...from the ferries to the beaches. Great tours of the bay by land and sea...Many to choose from on Commercial Street...from a lobster boat interactive boat tour to nighttime cruises yo ferries to the many islands. Lots of history, lots of fun, lots of great dining options, loys of shopping, lots of magnificent views, and best of all...lots of beautiful Casco Bay free natural resources.

Great place for food, and quaint shops. You can take a sightseeing cruise, really nice. I took the lighthouse tour and loved it!

Scenic Drive from Portland Headlight up to Freeport, the time of the year that the fall colors were stunning and just right, visited this area last Labor day, again, worth a visit.

Beautiful views... Sunrise and sunset... Worth a visit .. You won't be disappointed.... Fall foliage is a great time to visit

You can take a ferry around the islands or one of the many tours that leave from the Portland docks, schooners, sightseeing, etc. The quality of the water, the air and the rugged beauty of the islands make this a Maine experience.

It was an enjoyable drive over the Casco Bay Bridge. The small community was quaint, the beach hard to access.

I've been there hundreds of times, it's a beautiful bay, never a bad moment. Whether it's just sitting by the water, or actually traveling on a ferry boat, it has character, charm, beauty, and majesty.

We took the Ferry to Peats Island and even though it was very chilly we enjoyed the quick trip - the cinnamon roles at the café are worth the trip. Rent a golf cart and tour the island.
