My girlfriend and I stopped by this lovely museum on a Friday morning in November. It was their off season, and we were the only ones there at the time, but Dick, our personal tour guide, took us around the whole museum showing us all the cars and such just like he would with a large group. We were so amazed at the amount of knowledge Dick was able to share with us as we spent nearly three hours walking around the two buildings. He was more than happy to answer any questions we had, and you could tell he was passionate about what he does and about all of the pieces in the museum. The museum itself was chock full of unique cars and motor memorabilia as well as a huge working model train set, old bicycles, and a diner car. We were amazed that this little gem existed. We came with an open mind and not much expectation and left feeling amazed, enriched from learning so much, and grateful that these people have preserved so much unique history not only in the items on display but in the stories Dick shared. I would recommend anyone genuinely interested in transportation check this place out! It is well worth your time and money!

what a great experience. the collection is very nice. bikes, cars, toy trains, diecast cars...etc. the tour guide was very knowledgeable and stopped and talked about every car and bicycle in the place. if you ever get the chance to get to this museum do it. you will love it. call before going though. they do have weird hours and can be closed if snow wasn't cleared of their area. oh one more thing. there is no heat in the buildings so dress warm.

My wife and I are from Plattsburgh area and this was our first visit to the museum. In addition to over fifty historic vehicles, there are antique/vintage bicycles, a locomotive used in the mines at Mineville, a collection of miniature cars, a Lozier pleasure boat and even a trolley car diner. The Museum features two Lozier cars from the early 1900 that were manufactured in Plattsburgh. Other notable vehicles include a Pierce Arrow, a REO Speedwagon, and Plattsburgh's first fire engine. The collection includes Model T Fords and models ranging all the way up to a 65 Ford Mustang. Our tour guide was friendly, knowledgeable, and informative. And exceptional value for car enthusiasts, history buffs, and those just looking for a pleasant and relaxing afternoon.

I went to the museum today and it was closed for the season. A person in a nearby office explained that heating the facility is cost prohibitive. It will open in May. Just about the time I will be in north country again. I will have something to look forward too.

On the old US Air Force base in Plattsburgh who would have thought this gem existed? If wasn't for a rainy morning we would never have discovered this place. Richard our personal tour guide showed us around and took two very very informative hours explained about the exhibits, even showing the developments planned for children. They will especially like the various working model railways. Those older ones among us will remember the days pasts and remember some of the motors on display. Other can dream of the life owning and driving some of the limousines of the early 1900s meticulously restored on display. Superlatives abound!

Some beautiful cars and SOOO MUCH history to learn! Guides are as well versed in car history as the local history and its significance overall! Very impressed for a small museum in a small town!

We visited the museum and really enjoyed how knowledgeable the tour guide was. I think that this place is a must see if you are in the area. Will definitely recommend it to my friends and family to see. The fee was very reasonable also.

Nice place to see old vehicles and the museum of model cars and trucks on display. Very interesting to see transportation from those years.

We visited the transport museum with my family who i was staying with in Plattsburgh. Its a great place! We were given a guided tour and i must say we were very impressed with the tour guide - he knew his stuff and was very informative. The cars were beautifully restored and he gave information about each one. There is also a huge collection of the old match box toy cars which was pretty impressive - i believe this is the guides own personal collection. Would highly recommend spending some time here. There is not a set price to get in just a voluntary donation.

The best things always start somewhere. I arrived with my family to the museum, hoping to give the kids something to do, as there is a lack of entertainment for children in the Plattsburgh area. Upon first glance, it is a sortof run down looking garage, with other buildings surrounding it, forming a sort of campus. On the windows are painted scenes of Old Plattsburgh, as I found out had been painted by a local artist with the help of some volunteers. The volunteers at the museum are great. The majority are car fanatics and have been in Plattsburgh their whole lives. Our tour guide greeted us with a beaming smile and he was extremely informative and friendly. It was possibly the best tour we have ever gotten. The interior of the place is a little old, as money and funding has been short. Construction of a (YES!) Kid's Museum, and renovations are thought to be executed sometime in the next year or so. But the cars were absolutely gorgeous, and the other artifacts (especially the Gate's Diner) captivated me and and made me really appreciate our country's history of transportation. The kids marveled at the cars, and are excited to return for the opening of the kid's station. Very excited!!!! Wil definitely return in the future!
