Colorado Cellars is one of the original wineries in Colorado. Over that period they've mastered the art, as their large and growing collection of awards testifies. They have 2 dozen wines that range from traditional dry reds and classic whites, to fruit blend selections and several dessert wines.I was there on a Monday afternoon and the server was a longtime employee. Knowledgable, friendly and enthusiastic. She walked me through their products and provided interesting history of the vineyard and the area. Beyond the high quality product, the vineyard has a commanding view of the Palisade valley, the Colorado River, Mt Garfield and the Book Cliffs.

This winery has something of everything. Traditional varietals are dispensed from a bar you pour from yourself. The roadkill red is a really interesting sweeter red. Not something I thought I would like but I loved it. They have many fruit wines. The blackberry was amazing. It was really fun trying so many different kinds of wines. They sell lots of yummy dips, jams, and chocolate dips. There is a nice sitting area if you want to bring a picnic which we did on our bikes.

These folks have set up several containers of wine with spigots and they give you a small plastic cup and you fill your cup from as many varieties as you wish. At first this seems rather strange but when you realize that you can taste as you wish, on your own schedule and even get seconds, it is unique and enjoyable. Several of the wines were quite sweet but we liked the Syrah and bought a bottle. The staff was very friendly and the wine was reasonably priced. Give it a try, there was no cost for tasting that I was aware of.

We enjoyed our tasting of wine and snacks at this winery. They had a unique tasting room that we all enjoyed. It was fun to pour or own samples and they were very generous with the quantity of tasting for both wind and food.

This place was a little weird. When we arrived there was a good amount of people and they all had plastic cups in the tasting room. Apparently we pour our own wines from the spickots and when I looked over they cleaned the taster spoons and used plastic wine cups for the next customers... :( not big on fruity wines, people were kind, it just was a little weird for my usual wine tasting experience.

Friendly staff have set up a crowd pleaser with their wines on tap. Facilitating the tasting of the wines of choice (red, white, dessert), the customer can taste wines of interest rather than a set tasting selection as most of the wineries in the area. True, they do have to have a sentry next to the taps to watch for over-consumption, and true they state a wine-tasting fee for non-purchasers--however it would be hard not to take away a bottle from this friendly establishment. The establishment features far more moderately priced wines than many of the others in the area, likely because they are a bigger producer. The tasting room serves also as the gift shop, which may include tastings of food products or salsas, but is excellent for strolling as wines tastings are sipped. Gift items available are more extensive and interesting than in other nearby establishments. The best stop of the day.

They have a huge variety of wines. Dry, semi-sweet, sweet, fruit and also two meads. I prefer sweet, some fruit and both the meads. They have a great little gift shop too! This is probably my favorite of all the wineries I've visited in the area! :)

with a tasting fee... but they don't tell you when you come in. There is an obscure sign in the corner by the rinse sink that tells you its $7.50 per person if you don't buy!!Granted they have most of their wines "on tap" for self service. They hand you a small glass and tell you what they have. Sign says please limit to 1/2 glass per wine. Glass provided in itself might be 1.5 ounces max. For $7.50/person I say go for it and fill 'er up!!We were there only to taste so we only poured enough wine to taste, typically a small less than half ounce pour. I'm interested in the product produced not to get intoxicated. The "sweet" wines are on the counter and are poured by the servers. Obviously their is no limit here as they fill the tiny glasses. In general too much for a simple tasting. If you're goinng to charge for tasting... put the sign on the door, front of the building... somewhere it can be seen prior to entering so we as consumers can decide whether the charge is something we wish to pay. Don't suprise us with an obscure sign stuck in a corner that you won't see until you rinse your glass from the first taste - when its too late!! I felt like I was forced to make a purchase. Luckily I liked their port and my wife found a couple of food items she wanted so we avoided that possibly uncomfortable situation if we had decided to leave without buying anything. As I've said in other posts where the tasting charge came up... if you want people to experience your product and make an immediate or future purchase - lighten up!! If you're afraid people will abuse the tasting, take out the self serve bar and do limited pours. I'm sure it will pay off over the long haul!!

This is one of the oldest wineries in Colorado. The staff was very knowledgeable about their wines and very friendly. We liked that we could taste their wines at our leisure and not have to wait for someone to serve us. They have a wall with their wines on display and a tap so you can pour some wine in to your glass. They start with the dry wines and you move up to their sweet wines. They also have their fruit wines at a separate table. Of all the wineries we visited they had the most selection. We bought several bottles of wine here and will definitely be back the next time we visit.

Strangest wine tasting I have ever been to. This is not your usual wine tasting. You walk in and a lady gives you a tiny glass and then shows you a wooden showcase encased with about 10 of their wines that are hooked up to hoses and tappers just like at a brewery or bar, however you pour it yourself in your little glass then go and self serve your bottles if you want to purchase any of the wines.Kind of like in a grocery store. Only tried a couple and they tasted like Annie Green Springs. They had a sign that if you did not purchase any bottles you would have to pay 7.50 for the tasting. You have to be kidding. Not for that stuff. The lady did say don't worry about it. If you are new to wine, maybe this would be the place to go, but there are much better ones on the wine trail.

This vineyard has a wide variety of fruit and grape wines to try. They give you a glass and you fill up your glass from the taps (set number). We were uncomfortable pouring our own wine as the host stared at us from behind the counter. She was not very friendly so we didn't feel like we could ask questions and engage in conversation about each individual wine. It may just be personal opinion but all of the wines here were way too sweet. However, I enjoyed their chocolates and mustards.

Finally we found some fruit wines. They had a wonderful selection of local fruit wines as well as several standard reds and whites. They had a nice way of serving the wines using self served taps.

The wines were available for tasting. I liked sweet wines and there were several to choose from. The price of wine is reasonable but having it shipped home is not. (I did it anyway rather than deal with getting it home on a plane.) The shop-keeper was friendly and helpful. The winery appeared clean with gift items to purchase. It's off the beaten path so you would not go there by chance.

Wines were o.k. Nice mix of sweet and non-sweet. Sampling was unique. Good selection of oils. Definately worth the stop. Shop had a lot of other unique food items to purchase.

This is set up with a kind of self serve draft type tasting area for a majority of the wines. Surprisingly everyone seemed to mind their portions and stap back to let others enjoy. Thay also have a section of snacks and treats which were reasonable priced and delicious.
