Great bang for the buck. We were all very interested in everything. Really cool place to see. Friendly staff. Would come back after remodel to check it out again.
Advised that it was important to understand Nashville to visit the "Mother Church of Country Music", enjoyed an hour and a half self guided walking tour with helpful brochure, exhibits and attendants. More of a folk than country fan, I was impressed by the variety of performers and acts that have played this intimate venue with almost perfect acoustics. Would love to come back to enjoy a performance. Opportunity to make a record at the onsite studio and a guided backstage tour.
Very exciting! I went with younger children and they loved it! This is a must see attraction!! The gift shop had lots of fun Nashville merchandise!
My experience was unexpected and something I will never forget and If you have a love for country music, I suggest you take a tour of this historic, glorious auditorium, One thing you will learn is that many artists have come through those doors that are/were actor's, comediennes. and speakers. Here's what happened to me. I walked into the auditorium, sat on a pew and began watching an informational film. Suddenly, I felt cold. Well, I didn't think nothing of it, until the pew I was sitting on started shaking. You know, like when someone starts shaking their leg. Well, there was just two people on this pew, my friend and I, so I looked over at her. She is just sitting there watching the film. Okay.... so it's my imagination, right? My friend lives there in Nashville and knows this place inside and out and proceeds to show me around. I still haven't said anything to her. As we walk through the building (it is so much more than a building), she shows and tells me about the areas we are in and come upon.... There is so much history, so much "Old Country", I take it all in, while having this feeling of peacefulness. As we are leaving, I ask her if she felt the pew shake. She looked at me and smiled... she felt it too! The interesting thing is that she told me on the way there, was that "The Ryman makes the hair on my arms stand up". She wasn't kidding.
Great venue to hear a great artist! The valet parking made it super easy to park and all the vendors/ushers were friendly. Beautiful old building with a lot of history!
First of all the place is really neat and full of country music history. We took the tour and then went to a show the same night. Overall the tour was a bit lackluster. You get to walk into all the unoccupied dressing rooms and look at some historic pictures, get to sit on a couch that many a groupie has fornicated on, and see the actual stage from behind a rope. After taking the tour I would have preferred a longer talk from the tour guide versus going around and looking at some old rooms. The show was just amazing. The program is just like it has always been done. You will see about a half dozen acts. Some are super stars of old, super stars of today, and some great unknown upstarts. The seats are uncomfortable old church pews. You can eat and drink inside, so get your adult livations as needed. This is a must visit when you are in Nashville, I just may skip the tour and walk around on my own next time.
At $15 a pop, all you get to go is view the inside of the Ryman. I would recommend saving your money and purchasing a ticket to see an event live. This way you'll get double your bang for your buck.
We were there early and got the behind the scenes tour with just the tour guide, my husband and me. It made it feel very special.I am glad they good people of Nashville had the vision to save this slice of Americana. I recommend this tour even if you are indifferent to country music. It is a unique look into how the divine and profane sometimes have beautiful harmony.
This is where it all started. A must visit for music fans. The Ryman still has shows and also provides tours. If you want to see where the legends of country music started it all, add the Ryman to your plans.
Enjoyed both the backstage tour and show at the Opry. The hospitality was wonderful. Would recommend this landmark institution.
