My husband and are frequent visitors to the library. Why buy books you only read once when you can borrow from the library? I add books I want to read to the reserve list and am notified when the book is available. If the book is not available at my library, it can be borrowed from another library nearby and transferred to my library. The circulation staff is extremely helpful and friendly. I have also attended a class on genealogy which was very helpful. I have also participated in a book club facilitated by library staff. Since I have enjoyed my library privileges so much, I signed up to be a library visitor to people who are unable to travel to the library and have found that not only have I helped someone else, I have also benefited myself by new friendships.
They have an excellent selection of everything a library should have. Attractive facilities, state of the art meeting rooms, very up-to-date with technology.
A first class library for a small town. We have been very impressed with the facilities, the material and the staff.
Excellent in all ways ... the variety of materials was a surprise to me considering the size of the community it serves.
The Johnson City Public Library is a very excellent facility for a city of this size. It is fairly new and well designed.
What a great library. We were pleasantly surprised. Good parking as well. Spacious; gorgeous; lots of seating too. Excellent for a small city!
They always have what I am looking for. I also utilize their wait list on new books and it does not take that long before it is my turn. There is always something else to read while I wait. I usually went to this library when doing my master's degree instead of the university. Parking is good, too.
This library is a relatively modern building with ample parking, wheelchair access, and an elevator to the upper level. There are meeting rooms and a full kitchen, computer areas for public use, and a staff ready to assist you.The only negative is the library's close proximity to the less-than-fabulous downtown area.
Before we moved, we were able to get a visitors library card for $1 I think - it's been a while. This library has a wonderful childrens section! They have great reading programs during the summer and all sorts of special things going on. There are reading dogs that come in on Monday for the children to read to - you have to make an appointment. There are puzzles, computer games, checkers and a wooden doll house. For adults, there are tons of movies and great books and an area with lots of computers if you don't have access at home. The staff is very friendly and helpful. Great place to go for a quiet afternoon!
This library has a great book, audio book and DVD selection for the area it serves. It also has a fun area for children to play and learn. The programs for story time are very average...nothing to write home about, but still worth attending...but they don't accommodate all age groups and are not offered as often as other libraries offer programs on average. The staff on the youth and children's side are stuffy at best and a couple of ladies are down right rude. I was surprised by the way I was treated there while trying to enjoy the day with my child. I always treat the property with respect, keep noise to a minimum and leave the toys and books in a more organized manner than they were before we arrived. I did not deserve to have someone act so rudely to me. Because of the ladies' attitudes, this might not be the best place for little ones. I have other friends who have had similar negative experiences. It is a shame because they get so much else right there.
The Johnson City Public Library is a great asset to the public. Anything from help with finding that special book to children's programs and offering computer classes. The staff go out of their way to be most helpful.
Great library, awesome selection. Children's section is fantastic. Lots of audio books and DVDs. Electronic section is very good - lots of books for your kindle. Lots of summer activities for kids. Never crowded and always quiet. Really a great asset for the area.
My grandkids particularly enjoy a frequent visit to this library. Children's books and DVD's are available for checkout. But, the puppets, stuffed animals, etc. make it hard to have them focus on what to check out ! They claim that they never have enough time !!
