You will hit every club in your bag on this course... Driver and a wedge course this is not! There are a few spots that are quirky and require a fair amount of local knowledge in order to score well, but it is fun to play and very pretty. The course can get soggy in spots, there are some blind shots and on course yardage is not well laid out... But you will enjoy your day! It is way better than the office!

I just started golfing again after a nearly ten year hiatus. This was not the best course to reacquaint myself to the game due to the degree of difficulty [in a good way] this course presents. Very scenic and well-run by the University, I highly recommend this course.

Sorry for this posting, but this will be helpful for travelers. This is an excellent place for sledging during the winter, and that's what we did there last December. Kids simply refuse leaving the place... Happy Holiday folks...

I took Golf during Summer at Iowa State. I was so confused with the location of each field, especially when you want to play according to the field number.

Veenker is a wonderful 18 hole course in Ames, IA. The manager of the course is knowledgeable and helpful. Her dog, Rocky is a large and friendly mascot who, if you are a dog person, you will love. There is a large driving range and putting ranges as well. The course is challenging and a joy to visit.

I have played Veenker roughly 20 times and it is one of my favorite golf courses around. Every hole is unique and makes the round more enjoyable even if you aren't playing well. The course is a pretty fair one and makes you hit a variety of different shots throughout the round. Decent rates as well.

When I asked to play nine hole, the staff said its closed. Actually, staff invited their friends to play golf.

A challenging little venue cut out of the heart of Iowa State University is a beautiful and great test of golf! Prices are reasonable too.

It is really one of the best municiple (It belongs to Iowa State Univ.) courses in Central Iowa. Well groomed and challenging.

Played 18 holes last week on a really nice day. The course is in great shape (grassy fairways, great tees, decent greens), but the layout is not very original. Many holes offer little risk/reward. And the small points that separate the good courses from the others are missing. Things as basic as yardage markers (150, 100, on tee) are virtually non-existent. And the course personnel do not oversee pace of play at all. I was stuck behind a pair of Asian ladies who were really slow, not very good, and oblivious to the option of allowing faster groups to play through. When you compare this university course to others at similar schools, ISU does not look very good.
