Sping had sprung as we dined outside in the tent as it was such a beautiful day. Fresh soups and lite fare enhanced the menu. This was a repeat lunch as we had enjoyed good food with prompt and pleasant service an earlier birthday celebration on a prior visit.
Great place to enjoy the outdoors with your family. I have been a member for several years and I believe it is one of the better bargains in San Antonio. They have monthly events - the Gardens by Moonlight are my favorite. Very family oriented and a great place to take children or your parents. I have great memories of taking my Mom there. She loved the Rose Garden - every time I go there I think about the times we spent there - Great Memories!
I like botanical gardens in general and San Antonio garden was no exception. I cannot say that it had any significant memorable highlights, but yet it quenched my spiritual need for peace and quiet.
We played hooked at a seminar and a group of us went to visit the Botanical Gardens. They are so beautiful. There are lots of steps so if you have trouble walking this might not be the best place for you. We enjoyed a refreshing snack in their small snack bar. We took lots of photos. If you want to take some beautiful photos of your family, visit this place.
My friends and I had a peaceful stroll through the amazing gardens and enjoyed the variety! It was well designed and had a lot of different types of plants. We recommend it very much!
It offers a lot of neat little niche garden areas. It can be a very hot outing in the heat of summer. Make sure to bring lots of water.
This place is batutiful, quiet and very pleasent, Ideal for a relax fresh day, I do not reccomend going on very hot days because there is plenty of walking and not enough trees and shades. Take snacks with you and a camera.
Love this place. So peaceful, there is a section that they rebuilt the swampy woodlands from eastern Texas and it is gorgeous. The atriums that house all the different climate types and the plants from those climates are amazing. Shakespeare in the Park was awesome. I loved seeing this version of Hamlet. The rose garden smells amazing. Thoroughly suggest this place.
The gardens are a great spot to get away from hectic life for a while. If you are into plants then you'll be in heaven. If you just want a peaceful stroll and maybe time to sit a think it's a great place. My girls love to go there in their CosPlay costumes for the photo opportunities they find. It's a great place.
More of a park like setting - not a lot of elaborate displays or educational exhibits. Beautiful nonetheless. They host awesome events such as Moonlight in Gardens and live music events. Those are well worth the price of admission.
We were impressed with a vast array of different plants, perhaps enabled by the unique climate this area has. Nevertheless, exhibits were well put together although I would have liked signs on more plants as my plant knowledge may be extensive, but limited to the climate I came from and being that I love to learn would have enjoyed knowing the names of some of the plants I might have wanted to add to a backyard garden one day. It was a wonderful diversion and strangely quiet for the heart of a large city. We will return soon
There are an incredible array of plants on display. The walking paths are gentle with lots of stopping points with benches. There are also great exhibits. We stopped in when they had an incredible exhibit of lego art. It was pretty amazing. The Botanical Garden is a great place to spend an afternoon. You can even have lunch.
We try to find places to enjoy our daily walk and the botanical gardens "fits the bill". I have to say it's probably one of the best we have seen. There are outside gardens including the three Eco zones of Texas. One interesting exhibit is six different examples of landscaping you can do on you property. There is also glass in closed areas with tropical plants from around the world. The fern grotto has fog and a mini waterfall you can walk under. Also if your a bird watcher bring your binoculars. Another interesting area is a wildlife watching area were you stand behind one way glass to view wildlife without disturbing them. If your hungry after your walk they have a small restaurant.
We picked a cool day but the sun was out and it was great to be outside. The gardens were pretty but the time of year would make them better when the plants are blooming. A few things we haven't seen before so that was nice. The conservatory buildings are architecturally amazing although the plants are a little lacking in the palm area. The different terrains if Texas were great.
Ok, so this really is our family's favorite place to go in San Antonio. We go to all their special events for adults and for kids/families. We go for picnics and to take lovely strolls. We go just to feed the ducks in the pond. So it only made sense to have my birthday/vow renewal event there. Shimeyka Olivares, the Special Events and Rentals Manager, is just amazing and so very helpful. We decided upon the Auld House due to the time of year's unpredictable weather. The cabin's indoors were so elegant and the covered patio in the back was perfect! The gardens are so beautiful, even in Winter! Thank you, Shimeyka and everyone at the Gardens, you made my dreams come true!
