This is one of my favorite stops along the Blue Ridge parkway. There are always 2 to 6 ducks swimming in the pond in front of the mill. During peak tourist season the mill is "moving" - although they no longer actually grind any grain. There is a short winding trail taking you to other things to see, such as a blacksmith shop and some other old time milling/farming displays set up around the mill.

30 year favorite of ours. Going back in May for a motorcycle M & G. LOVE the pancakes in the restaurant. You can buy the stone ground grains there also.

A much photographed corn mill with working waterwheel and scenic pond. Seasonally they have exhibits of blacksmithing, weaving, and musical entertainment. There is an adjacent restaurant that can have long waits during summer weekends, otherwise it is fine.

Beautiful little stop on the Blue Ridge Pkwy. The restaurant was closed while we were there but I hear the pancakes are delicious! Even so, it was a great place to stop and stretch our legs and take a great picture.

We thoroughly enjoyed walking the paths around the mill and looking at all the outdoor exhibits. However, since I was traveling with a child, it would have been nice to have had SOME kind of bathroom facility left open.

Working water wheel. Included tools, but not driven, were: sawmill, grist mill, lathe, and sharpening stone.

The November snow made our day extra special. Photos taken with snow all around.easy drive from Floyd.

Came by on a Monday in November and even though the restaurant and mill were closed for the season it was nice to walk around and see the Mill and other buildings. There are plenty of signs around to help you get a good idea of the history of the place. Looked very nice with the fall foliage. Also more peaceful than during the tourist season.

Mabry Mill shows you what it was like many years ago with the saw mill, black smith shop, the cider churning in the fall the quilt making, the water mill, and you can buy grits and corn meal that was made there. Great for the whole family.

Early in the twentieth century,Maybry established a mill, powered by a flumed stream into a water connecting pond, with a grains' mill, sharpening functions, and lumber sawing intervened between the two.Because the mill is reflected from the water collection stream, you have probably seen many photos of this attraction. There is a self guided tour to see the mill and also a cabin residence, how sorghum molasses was made,a moonshine still, and more. The whole things is charming and well organized. It's well worth an hour or two. There is a restaurant but I went into Meadows of Dan to explore instead of eating there. The down side is that in season,it is crowded.I would not think of driving this stretch of the Blue Ridge Parkway without stopping at Mabry Mill.

I ordered the Chicken Pot Pie and it was by far the worst thing I have ever had in a restaurant. It was way too salty, only had two pieces of Chicken about the size of peas in it, the sauce tasted like it was thickened with flour not cream and the topping was simply a piece of puff pastry placed on top. The portion was very meager but you really wouldn't want more because it was so awful. The waitress offered to bring me something else but I really didn't want anything after tasting that. My husband had a hamburger. It was just a frozen patty and he said it didn't have any taste at all. We waited two hours for this meal and felt totally robbed of our time and money.

I stayed at a B&B nearby, but they only had a continental breakfast, so I chose to have a full breakfast at Mabry Mill. No wait; and certainly no disappointment! Loved their option of mix & match on the pancakes - I had one sweet potato and one corn, along with sausage and GOOD coffee! Cannot imagine how some (I overheard) ordering two pancakes, two eggs, sausage and biscuit could get around all that! Friendly, efficient staff. Then I went out to photograph. Wow! Got some excellent shots. Definitely would recommend this as a stop on the Blue Ridge Parkway!

Would have had to wait over an hour for breakfast, so we skipped it, outdoor museum was great, very informative and interesting

We should have known something was amiss when we asked for a straw for our drinks and they were out. My husband asked for pinto beans on the menu, and they were out of that also. Then he asked for some pepper sauce (certainly a staple for a southern restaurant), and you guessed it...They were out. My fish came warm with solid cold salsa on top. My green beans were cold. The store was next to nothing. Don't waste your time here either.Too bad because they have a great advertisement program, but the real thing does not live up to what they advertise.
