Okay, I used to go to either this place, or its Springfield sister location back in the early to late 90's very often. How often? Hmm, about 200 nights a year. Not joking. It was a new thing back then. Pool halls had been pretty much banished from Fairfax County during the 70's, because they were hangouts for the dregs of society and drug activity. In comes Fast Eddies. It was nice. It was new, clean, well lit inside, and looked nice from the outside as well. And the food was above grade bar food. Some would argue that it was better than several of the restaurants close by. Sigh, some things just don't last.I went to the Fairfax location today to shoot some pool. First time in over 15 years. Walking in, the place smells unclean. I don't know if it's the HVAC system, the noticeably dirty floors, walls or the tables--which haven't been maintained properly in what looks like over a decade. This place is a drunken rednecks paradise. No dress code of any kind. Or cleanliness code. Several regulars(?) who look like transients moping around the place, beat up tables, country music playing, More TV's than Best Buy, mediocre bar food, tacky beer advertising on the walls, etc.Several patrons in the rear bar area were obviously over served before the clock hit 4PM. If the condition of the Men's room is any indication of what the Ladies' room looks like, I would bet that any decent lady would be asking to leave so she could find a bathroom to use.Back in the day, you could take your girlfriend here and both have a good time. I remember seeing families playing pool together on the weekends. You won't see any families enjoying themselves at this place--unless the kids got their first tattoo before their drivers license. With the original owners and management, this place (and Springfield) was AWESOME! Now? It's becoming the reason that Fairfax County clamped down on pool halls way back when. I will not be shocked if this place shutters it doors within two years.
