My husband and I stopped by Burch Farms on a Friday afternoon. They had a very nice little store that featured a variety of local products. They have honey, jams and jellies, local produce and a large variety of local apples. The also had a wine tasting bar on one side. We enjoyed our tasting, especially their Cayuga. Everything was decorated for fall, so it was a very festive atmosphere. It was worth stopping in to take a look around.
This market was next door to our hotel so I decided to walk over. They were celebrating their 75th anniversary. The local produce was fresh & reasonably priced. It smelled great as they had lots of varieties of grapes for sale. The bargains were cabbage heads & cauliflower the size of bowling balls at 75 cents a piece & apple cider for $1.00/gallon. My husband bought goats milk fudge & we also picked up a variety of peppers to take home with us. The staff was friendly & helpful & also guided us to the Freeport restaurant for dinner for which we were very grateful as it was a wonderful experience.
We stopped here because we were visiting area wineries. Not only is the is family run business and winery, but a farm market, deli and bakery! The staff was very friendly and helpful. Treated us like guests! We bought a couple of bottles of peach wine (OMG - and not too sweet!), cranberry walnut bread, fudge, apples... it was a great find. We were there the day before Easter and they had just finished an easter egg hunt for kids and it seems like they had a large amount of kids enjoying the day.
Burch Farms provides more than just wine. Be sure to check out the fresh fruits and typical benefits you would expect to find at a farm. The wines are good and they have a different selection than the others in the area.
