Full disclosure: I am one of the 70+ professional and amateur artists who make up the all-volunteer non-profit gang that is SVA - Sheboygan Visual Artists. So I'm there on the Final Friday of every month (except December and August). Every one is different but the common denominators are:• Original art on display • Free hors d'ouevres and cash bar• Live music or some other entertainment• Usually live art-making demos, often with hands-on make-it-and-take-it opportunities.• 100 - 200 friendly folks coming, going, or staying for the whole time (6-10pm)The venue is on Erie Ave -- the main east-west entrance to Sheboygan -- at the corner of 12th Street. It's part of a former factory and has that "urban industrial loft" atmosphere. Very real; no pretense; lots of creativity. A hidden gem / unique experience.
This was a great opportunity for members of the community to spend time making art with member of the Sheboygan Visual Artists. The results of the many pieces that were created will be available for purchase on July 25 at EBCO, 1201 Erie Avenue in Sheboygan. People are able to purchase art and exchange their pieces for other works on that Final Friday of the month. It's always fun!
SVA is a group of painters and photographers who on the final Fridays of most months hold a well-attended open house with refreshments, often with live music and occasionally with wine tastings. They are also open to the public on weekends in late November and early December. Free admission. Artworks are for sale at reasonable prices. Location is in galleries in the EBCO building on Erie Avenue in Sheboygan, on a southwest corner east of 14th St. Free street parking is available.
