The scenery is beautiful, peacful ,yet energizing. I loved relaxing there.Very good for the soul.I used to love watching storms roll in.
Great place to get some Lake Michigan history.Very majestic, great views of the water and fog building.
Open only on Sundays we called to make your reservations, they have a small museum and garden area to walk around and enjoy the view of Lake Michigan.
This was our second visit. We had a lot of time to kill, but hate the cold weather. Although we only spent about five minutes on the pier outside the lighthouse due to the lake winds, it was so worth it. It was very cold, foggy afternoon. The actual pier was covered in ice from the water sprays, along with the chain railings. It was a different perspective than our first visit. Even with the bitter cold, there was a steady stream of visitors. We will definitely visit again. Hopefully when the lighthouse is actually open to view inside and the weather is better. Check it out, you won't regret it.
there is no restaurant, not sure what Debbie T is commenting about but it is not the light house. Take the tour climb the stairs. tours are limited call ahead for schedule and times. Great view it is worth the drive.
There is a beautiful view. but then the food comes and it was a big let down. The food was ok. Could have been alot better. The wait staff really wasnt helpful. They acted like it was a real effort to bring you extra cocktail sauce. Better staff and a new cook and the place has alot of potential. if they change things i would ove to give it another try. The view is breathtaking.
One of the most picturesque places in the area. Great views, landscaping and history. I would recommend a trip up the stairs to the top for the incredible view.
We made a special visit to the area to catch a Sunday when a tour was taking place. Beautiful area and great views from the top. Nice small park on the lake as well. And it is a very nice part of town for a drive. The tour days and times are very limited (at least they were when we visited) but even if you don't tour the lighthouse it is worth the time to stop.
We read on Trip Advisor that Wind Point Lighhouse was #3 of 14 attractions in Racine, thus made a point to visit. Beautiful place, well maintained gardens though it was fall and not many plants were in bloom. Also the Fog Horn Museum was closed due to the season according to the sign.Very quiet place and nobody else around.Interesting to note that the Wind Point Lighthouse began functioning in 1880 and its light could be seen for 19 miles. At 108 feet, it is one of the tallest and oldest lighthouses still serving navigation on the Great Lakes.
I made reservations to climb to the top of the lighthouse. I liked the fact that this lighthouse is not to tall. The tour guides gave a good history of the lighthouse. The day I climbed to the top of the lighthouse was a perfect day to take the tour. You could clearly see out for several miles. The fall flowers were blooming and everything looked so fresh. Thank you for all the volunteers who help keep this lighthouse tour going. It really is a nice place to visit and take pictures by the lake.
The Wind Point Lighthouse is a beautifully maintained landmark and rightfully the most popular tourist attraction in Racine County! The grounds are open all year for enjoying Lake Michigan views and breezes. There is an excellent Fog Horn Museum/Gift Shop open during the summer season. It is possible to actually climb the 144 steps to the top of the lighthouse on the first Sunday of the month from June through Oct. for a nominal fee. If you want to climb to the top, plan to wear appropriate footwear since flip flops, heels, or backless sandals are not allowed. The views from the top are well worth the fee and all the steps! There is a memorial brick garden with beautiful flowers along the lake shore. On windy days it is possible to watch kayaks enjoying the large waves. A great cool place to enjoy a summer day!
The area is off the beaten path. Lots of room for walking around. Police station on property if you need it.
Loved the park and walking track. The Lions were a nice touch. Made several pictures, but it was cool and windy. Would loved to have stayed longer
We were lucky to go on a beautiful day and see the Chicago skyline from Wind Point. Looking down and across the lake was breathtaking. Good Job to the volunteers who run and give good insight to the history of the Lighthouse and community.
Wow! Between the beautiful landscaping and historical information and items! This is a must DO in Racine. ALSO DO NOT FOTGET THE RACINE ZOO! We did not go into the museum or lighthouse. I think there is a fee. No charge to park and look around outside , with plenty to see!
