I was in town with my husband for an event. He had things to take care of and I had a few hour to kill. I decided to visit the winery. Samples where free they had snacks set out a fire and a live musician. Staff was friendly and attentive even on a very busy day. Regulars where welcoming and friendly. Most of the wines are on the dry side which is not my favorite but there where a few I enjoyed. I will stop in next time I'm in the area.
My husband and I set off to do a short Indiana wine trail. We arrived at this winery about 30 minutes early and decided to wait. The posted opening time was noon on Friday. 12:00 came and went without a soul in sight. I tried calling the number, only to get a recording. I searched and searched other websites besides the Indiana wine website for different hours and could not locate any
Disappointed. This was our first and will be our last trip there Closing time posted on here is 7 p.m. for Saturdays. I called at 5:50 p.m. and was about 25 minutes away to verify directions which the GPS didn't recognize. I was given directions by a gentleman on the phone and told him we were on our way and where we were. Walked in the door at 6:20 p.m. yesterday (on a Saturday) and was greeted with "Sorry, we're closed. We're trying to get everyone out of here". I explained that I had called and was going by the posted closing time of 7 p.m. I was told we could buy something but no tastings. I said we happened to be coming through on our way home from a trip to Lafayette but we live in Illinois and are 46 miles from the winery. I was told we could come back tomorrow. Thanks, but no thanks. I don't think I want to make a 92 mile round trip to receive that type of hospitality.
These people are from California and have many blends of wine. They are very nice. There is outdoor seating where we enjoyed a glass of wine (that they filled to the top). They have a table set up with a spread of food (so nice!). cheese, crackers, dips, chips, salsas, and desserts. I was shocked when she even said they had gluten-free items (so yay! I got to nibble too). We were not charged for tasting or food.FYI...gps to locate them was completely inaccurate. It's was further on the road than my GPS said and other people that came in to the winery said the same thing.
