We took my 6 year old daughter and 3 year old nephew to the GCM today. I loved all the different play areas, especially the real vehicles that kids can access. I do think that the place is under staffed (the staff that was there were very kind and great with kids) because some of the stations could have been more successful with professional guidance/organization to teach little ones more and keep older ones from misusing the equipment in unsafe ways. We spent two hours there and pretty much tried everything. The garden and outdoor areas were closed due to the snow. The kids really enjoyed having the run of the place and it was an enjoyable afternoon. There is not a cafe in the museum, just vending machines and a few tables near them to eat snacks brought from home. The gardens-to-table ads are a little misleading in this aspect as the program is for kids cooking classes as near as I could tell. It is a neat spot across from the library and between the two you could make a day of it. For $8 it is a good value.
I nanny a 1 year old girl & we decided to venture to the Children's Museum one day.Although there is a lot for the kids to do a majority of it involves imaginative play. There is a small area for younger children but it is small. I will bring her back when she's a little older but for now I feel like we're not getting our monies worth.
My family and I loved our time at the Greensboro Children's Museum. We loved the aquarium part so much we stayed there most of the day. The Zoo section is awesome and my youngest son still talks about the live tigers we saw!!!
The children's museum provides hours of fun, imaginative, interactive play for kids. It was the perfect afternoon for our grandchildren, who loved the pizza kitchen, the trains, and the fire truck the very most. I highly recommend it!
My in-laws always take my 2 young sons here when they come into town. My boys love it! The city vehicles are a HUGE hit!
Great place my 4 year old loved it! On the other hand it's really not meant for kids over 7 I would say. My older kids didn't have much fun. :)
My 3 1/2 year old grandson remembered this from 2013 when he visited. He asked to go back to the "firetruck" and the "train"; we knew exactly where he wanted to go. He said it was "fun, fun, fun!"
Kids can run around the relatively compact museum without losing their parents, only one way in and out so no chance of them escaping, giving parents a chance to take a breath. Outdoor Edible Garden area closed in the Winter but for little ones who are fascinated with chickens and rabbits there are a couple of them out back. But lets face it - all the kids love the real emergency service cars and trucks for them to play in and pretend to be heros, A little expensive but I guess they have to keep it going during quiet periods. Worth taking out membership if you live locally - 5 or six visits pretty much justify the cost.
This museum is definetly geared for kids, tons of activities with things to see and do! Really enjoyed our time here.
This place has it all. Where was it when I was a kid? Kids get to climb into real airplanes, fired trucks, police cars and trucks. They even have an doctors office with nursery . I think my wife and I had just as much fun as our little one. We took that opportunity to introduce our little one into real life scenarios. This place is great. One day is not enough!!!
it was kinda fun but the thing is i was too old.it was still fun though which was awkward because i felt like i was the only 11 yr.old there but i was ...well having fun i guess
Not much to learn for such a high gate fee, volunteers are not trained and too young. Inside seems disorganized and not neat. Garden is not cared for nor properly maintained with all the gate fees, and sponsors.
We visited science center and were pleasantly surprised how much fun it was! We had young children with us and they loved everything. The dinosaurs, zoo animals, and the penquins were a big hit.. Great for a nice day trip!
Attended granddaughter's birthday party here. I was amazed (not in a good way) at the lack of security. There were children running everywhere and although I realize it is the parent's responsibility to watch their children I think the museum could be better at monitoring exits. On a positive note, there were lots of fun activities and the kids had a blast.
We went with a large group of children on a planned trip to Greensboro. They had a wonderful time. Not a dull moment
