all-a-flutter butterfly farm

I was there for my grandson's birthday party. The date above is not correct. The year does not go back far enough. It was for my grandson's 4th. birthday, he is now 12. It was beautiful to see these l butterfly's..As I remember, we held out our hands, some came and landed on them.

I took my wife & daughter here for the release day in October. Absolutely loved the place, and my daughter even got to open a box full of butterflies at the end...needless to say she was thrilled! We will be back.

I have taken my grandchildren to visit this fun & unique farm for the past 3 years, they absolutely LOVE it! The staff are always so helpful, friendly, and organized. We look forward to next years visit!

I have been here twice,last year it was organised this year not so much.i went this year expecting the kind of experience or close to that happened last year (my wife called that magical).But this year for whatever reason it was a organizational disaster. i am not sure if they had less staff or not but when it came time for the butterfly release only one person was there to control everyone. they had the idea to tag some butterfly's and track them to there destination, a good idea in concept but not in practice, these creatures were placed in paper containers and then in a box. four small children gathered unsupervised around these fragile butterflies and names were called for people in the group to pick up a packet with a butterfly in it. the problem was that some (really most) of the children seemed not to know that these butterflies were in fact alive so were handling them very roughly (to my knowledge) I saw three crushed. so as i was saying four children were waiting near this box containing butterfly's getting more and more worked up as there names failed to be called, with each name called getting closer and closer and more and more upset until a very small child had reached there limit of patience and frustration and kicked the box over still containing dozens of butterflies then to be dragged off by a parent that should have been in control of his/her child. ok now it comes to the main boxes of butterflies witch last year were held in the center of the group and then release all together, this year people were allowed to come up collect a box and return to there group and release them whenever they wanted to, so no one got to see the mass release of these butterflies, very disappointing (and once again my wife summed it up best by saying) "sometimes its better not to come back as it can tarnish a great memory".

This is a fun place to take kids and family. The staff is very knowledgable and friendly. It is a different experience than going to the zoo which makes it more interesting. My kids were thrilled and ask to go back each year.

We went for the first time to the butterfly farm this year. The presentation that was given was fun and informative. The staff tell a story about the butterfly and use the children who are present to play different parts, with all sorts of props like wings and antennas .. the kids loved it!! then going into feed the butterflies was amazing, they give you a cotton ball with a sugary sweetener in it that the butterflies and the moths love to eat, and they will flutter by and land on you to eat. It was a great afternoon experience. Next year we plan to go back when they release the butterflies at the end of the season.

We went to the farm on "release day" to see the buterflies be released for migration South for the winter. Prior to release there was a very interactive, entertaining presentation providing interesting information about the butterflies. Then you get to go into the "flight house" & get up close & personal with the butterflies; even feeding them on sugar pads provided to everyone. The Monarch release was very inspiring. Seeing the sky full of the beautiful butterflies flying free for the first time was magical. This is something I'd recomend for all ages. I'll most likely be a repeat guest. Such a great experience for $6.
