There are miles of hiking trails in here and some are shared with the horses. Great place to have an outdoor event or to take a quiet walk.

Trails of all experience levels.. Make it a day or just over an hour. The trail has jump out points that can provide a lunch stop if planned out right. Can not get lost on these trails.

Awesome place to hike with family or group such as scouts or youth group! Gently rolling trails that are well-marked!

Great idea great trails but I would dare say we were not the only hikers to ever get confused or "lost" on this trail system. And the sad thing is we hike ALL the time. Really frustrating...planned on running 3 miles ended up doing 5. Not sure why they could not use the entrance fee monies to place better signage

This nature preserve is very well kept, and only costs $3 per person to get in. Went with friends and our dogs in tow. They have trails ranging from easy (families with children) to a few that are a little more rigorous. This place has a little something for everyone to enjoy the outdoors.

Really one of my favorites in the area. Hiking (easy or hard trails), mountain biking, horse riding and kayaking – pick your favorite; all are available here. There is an entrance fee but it is small and worth it.

I love this place for so many reasons. It is a great place for a family picnic, hike, camping, fishing, trail running. I could go on. When ever anyone comes to visit I always take them here. Kids love it! There are a lot of different routes and walks you can take and you see something different each time. A little off the beaten path from Charlotte but well worth it.

They have a variety of trails that each have their own appeal. A great place to walk with your dogs and enjoy the outdoors!

This is a beautiful park of great size and topography. There are bridges and water crossings, flat ground and hilly treed areas that will work your legs or your horses legs. There is a nice little fishing lake. They have an arena for working your horse and they sometimes have shows. The trailer area is large and easy to navigate. There is a fee for using the trails and if you live near by it is worth buying a seasons pass. There are a few corrals for those horse that you don't want to leave tied to the trailer. Modern bathrooms are available. They have a large dairy barn that is available for rent for weddings and such. For a day of trail riding or hiking this is an excellent choice. It is closed to horses after heavy rain so call to make sure they are allowing riding on the day you go.

Several sections to this lovely greenway. You can enjoy a hike across a swinging bridge, through the woods, or around the lake. Small children might enjoy seeing the horses or the big barn.

Within 20 minutes of Charlotte, the greenway is the antidote to all of the concrete and traffic of the big city. Park at the dairy barn at 21 bypass entrance and you will feel the stress melt away as soon as you exit your car. Pay the paltry $3.00 user fee (it's a bargain and the greenway needs it because it is not tax subsidized), grab a helpful map, and take the concrete path. The path quickly gives way to a dirt road that meanders by several picturesque cabins and through lush horse pastures. By the time, the path dips down toward Steele Creek, you will feel like a new person with your worries left behind. When you get to Steele Creek, you will feel the coolness of the deep green forest and the babbling water envelop you. Pause at the creek if you like or take your time to dip your feet in the water and listen to the birds serenading you. When you are ready to continue, bounce across the fun but very safe suspension bridge and continue on to an engaging nature center. Or, take one of about 32 miles of trails throughout this 2300 acre oasis. You will be so glad you made time in your busy life for this bit of sanity.

I visited the Anne Springs Close Greenway on Earth Day last year and it was a very interesting experience. On Earth Day 2013 admission was free and hope they continue that for 2014 as this greenway is an excellent example of a private greenway that is well maintained with modest admission fees to have a glimpse of the history in the Fort Mill area. Surprised to see a portion of the first road that began in Philadelphia and went thru the Greenway as it continued South. I have driven multiple times to PA and NJ normally taking 77/81 or 80/95 so it would be interesting to see the route of this old highway which was used if memory serves me right by General Washington in the revolutionary war. So note your calendars for Earth Day 2014 as the historic sights are manned by volunteers to relate "the rest of the story of the Anne Springs Close Greenway."

This greenway is an absolute treasure! It's loaded with trails for hikers, bikers, and horses. Lakes, camping, festivals, it's all here. It's the perfect place to unwind or wind up.
