美丽的池塘,分大小两个部分,倒映着对称的建筑,旁边有棕榈树和花,池塘以前用于二战伤员的疗养,现在只做游客开放用,非常适合拍照
Gorgeous flowers with interesting names from different places, all lovingly cared for and designed to allow for lots of photo opportunities
This free attraction was a wonderful, cool oasis in Balboa Park along El Prado. There was a wonderful diversity of ferns, fronds, and orchids. Everything was well taken care of, and an amazing guitarist was outside playing by the lily pond.
The building is made from slats of Redwood tress and filled with tropical trees and flowers. I thought it was a Botanical garden and was disappointed that it was only one building.Entrance is free.
If you need an hour or two to relax and walk among nature (and tourists) then this is the place to go. Just walk around, take it all in, and relax. There's not much to it, but for me that was the whole idea. It was just a fun place to be and not have any agenda.
Special place at the park with an amazing collection including orchids and other greenery. Beautiful building and the lily pond out front is one of the signature photo opportunities in San Diego. Excellent.
I LOVE at great botanical building, and San Diego's is up there. Even in chilly winter, the latticed dome and green quiet was an eden. I happily spent an hour and then the best surprise was right outside the doors. As I stopped to look down the lily ponds, I noticed the shrub right next to me had protection signs because it had monarch butterfly caterpillars feasting on it. So rad to see those yellow and black striped crawlers.
This is in Balboa Park and has an amazing collection of orchids and other greenery. Remember, it closes at 4 PM so don't be late. Balboa Park has no end of attractions including a Zoo and several museums, but this place is special.
We enjoyed the Lily Pond and Botanical building. However, it was not exceptional. It is smaller than others we have seen. We spent 30 minutes to see the beautiful orchids and take pictures. We are glad we saw it.
Orchids galore! I was in heaven. One of the best displays of orchids I have ever seen. It was breathtaking.
While busy on weekends, this is a lovely botanical building with transitioning displays. No charge to enter. A photographer's delight! Plants from all over the world grown in this garden that are permanent. Then others, such as orchids have special exhibits. A must see when strolling in Balboa Park, whether you are a local or tourist. If you are lucky enough to go on a weekday, it may be a good spot for a calm moment of reflection.
Most upper end botanic gardens will feature an indoor display of flora that grow best in an area protected from the elements. Such is the case with this attraction. Whenever I’m in Balboa Park, no matter the weather, I make a trip inside the botanical building to see what flowers are blooming. Some displays are better than others, but I’m never disappointed, especially when there are usually lots of orchids there, which is common. I’ve never met anyone who didn’t fine orchids both amazing and beautiful. Every so often there will be displays featuring flower arrangements that are there as a planned presentation (contest?). Just follow the crowd to see where the good ones are.The lily pond is a nice complement to anything garden-like, inside or out. This one is pretty straightforward: manmade and rectangular. One will typically see people posing for pictures, and children leaning over the edge to check for fish.
The orchids were stunning and it's great all the different climates they have represented in the botanical building. There's plenty of opportunity to walk around or to just sit and look. The pond is a great place for a picnic lunch or mid-afternoon rest.
Don't know how long these will be on display but have NEVER seen so many gorgeous orchids in one place at one time. The lily pond out front was even graced with a live, drop-in white egret.
A walk through this building will refresh you. The varied colors of the orchids and flowers are breathtaking. The architecture of the building itself is worth exploring. The Lily Pond is a favorite spot for picture taking and beauty.
