montevina wines

We saw a cat sleeping in the office through a window and when we walked in the tasting room there is a story about him on the wall! He was sleeping exactly like in the picture.Ok, enough about the cat ~ loved the tasting and people of this winery ~ wine too, bought some!!!! We arrived early and they were so friendly. Nice tasting rooms/plenty of merchandise to buy. Beautiful grounds. We will return for more!!!

My friend really wanted to go this winery so we decided to make this our next stop. We walked in about 45 minutes before they closed and it was quite busy. Despite being really busy the staff did a great job of making sure everyone was well taken care of. They have two lines of wine the Montevina and the Terra d' Oro. I preferred the Montevina line as the wines were lighter and I really liked the Barvera which I purchased. The Terra d' Oro line of wines are much fuller and I didn't prefer it. If you like sweet wines then I recommend the moscato. They have a patio in the back so its great for picnics.

Worth a stop. Very knowledgeable, friendly staff. Beautiful grounds. Seems like it would be excellent as a wedding venue, with several options for the ceremony, covered reception area, lots of parking and great wines.

Two brands. Terra d'Oro is far superior than their Montevina brand. I'd rate the latter a 3 and the former a 5. We bought two cases.

Wines are just OK and it's so commercial. If you're going wine tasting in Amador I would try one of the many small wineries in the area.
