What a FANTASTIC experience! A few years ago we tried the South Fork of the American River for my birthday, and it was SO fun, we decided to try the slightly more difficult Middle Fork this year. I admit I was a little scared going in, but after the first big rapids I was HOOKED! Our guide, Antonio, had been rafting around the world his entire life, so we knew we were in capable hands. I cannot express how FUN this trip was:) You just gotta GO...and choose Mariah--they're the best!

This is our 1st time white water rafting, so we chose the half day Upper Chili Bar south fork trip. Through Groupon, we bought the trip w/ Mariah. We also decided to camping for the previous night there. The lady was very nice to explain the camping sites and different settings, and we decided to set our own tent. She helped us to choose the site next to the swimming hole. This site is great for our kids and they immediately jumping in the water after setting the tent! The rafting experiences were even better! We shared a boat w/ another family of mother and two daughters. Our guide Mark is one of the earliest guide on the river and super knowledgeable about the river condition and environments, even w/ lots of history stories back to the Gold Rush years! He is amazing and funny! He let us to swim in the good current and even tricked the two ladies from another family fell into the water! It was a great experience and we sure will come back for a whole day rafting next time. Hopefully will be guided by Mark again!

This was an awesome experience. Never rafted before and I felt safe, comfortable, and like a pro by the end of the trip. Fantastic staff and experienced crew. Would definitely recommend this company. Will try their camp/raft next year. Thanks, Mariah for a fun filled day on 8/24/14. We'll be back.

This is our second year rafting with Mariah Wilderness expeditions rafting...both times have been a thrill the least I can say. We (Grandparents) took our grandkids ages 11-15 and we had the time of our life!!! Both guides 2013 Matt & 2014 Melissa were amazing, very knowledgeable and found exciting things for us to try (Kept it safe) Our Grandkids said it was the best water thrill they've ever had. We are planning a big family event next year and are already recruiting family members for this rafting trip. Donna and Melinda in office are very courteous, professional and helpful when making reservations. I HIGHLY recommend Mariah for all your rafting adventures....they also have the best looking rafts, matching helmets & vests from all the other rafts I saw.... we are going back to finish the season in 2 weeks, be doing the Middle fork for the first time....yey!!!! GO MARIAH STAFF!!!! Thank you for everything!!!!

This was my 5th trip with Mariah but first on the middle fork. Had done the previous 4 on the south with differen family and friends. This time my son and sister were with me and it was the first for all of us on the middle fork. John was our guide and he was awesome. Very informative,funny and kept everything rocking. I have always had great experiences with Mariah and am so glad that I picked them back in 1999. After the day was over it was agreed that we are all going to do the middle fork as soon as possible. My sister will probably go next week as she is lucky enough to live in the area. you guys are awesome, look forward to seeing you soon

Never having done true white water rafting, our adventurous group were full of expectation which was not to be disappointed. The local guide was quite a character but his expertise ensured we were given the full impact and thrill of the white water, whilst remaining safe. Great times. A MUST!PS do not be concerned about low water levels ( and therefore a lame experience) during drought or summer months. We went July 14 and encountered a forceful river.Carolyne and friends England

Mariah does an exceptional job of taking groups or individuals safely down California's beautiful rivers. We had a really GREAT day on the South Fork of the American River, with Moustache Mark as our guide -- fun, funny, informative, strong, and gently in charge. It was just the right amount of excitement, danger, exercise, laughter, time and cost, and a very memorable day for all three of us.

I've rafted since 1986, but had not been back to American River for probably 10 to 12 years. We were a party of 9, including both my sons--grown up men now, my girl friend, and 4 friends. My sons were mere 7 or 8 year old boys the first time we "floated" the South Fork American. Many years and trips later (i.e., "a lot of ewater under our souls"),we found ourselves back on the American. Our outfitter, Mariah, was a referral and turned out to be subperb in every way. The guides and other staff were caring, talented and fun to be with. They were also very good boat people, reading water extremely well, and keeping us safe. Their names are Melissa and John. Ask for them if you go.BTW, they also threw out some fun challenges on the water which we took on with great passion. With California in the middle of a severe drought, this was the only runnable water this late in the season and it was running "stoney" but nice. Yet it was a truely remarkable run, some challenging rapids plus good ole Tunnel Chute, and lotsa great greenery and scenery. The campsight was also a lot of fun, perched alongside the river. Of course, we ate and drank well (brought our own wines), and in sum thanks Mariah for a first cabin rafting experience.

My mom & I went on the two day trip on the South Fork. It was incredibly fun, exciting & memorable. We both loved everything about it and can't wait to go again.Our guide, Haley, was knowledgeable, fun, talented & kind. We had a great experience on the river. The rapids were exciting but we always felt safe. Haley really knows the river and always guided us right to where we needed to be. The other guides seemed excellent too & it was obvious that they all love their job. They had fun with each other and all the guests.Camp was perfect. We rented one of the canvas deck tents and we were very comfortable. The bathrooms were clean. Meals were delicious. Guides, bus drivers, management & everyone involved was friendly, helpful & truly seemed to enjoy their work.We wouldn't hesitate to recommend Mariah to anyone. It was a positively memorable weekend.

Me and my wife went to Mariah's for weekend 2 day South Fork river rafting. The trip was a great fun, folks at Mariah are very friendly and welcoming. The camp sites by the river were good and if hadn't been for the 108 degrees of heat, we would have enjoyed it a lot more. Evening was a pleasant time in the camp area sitting by a small beach in the camp area was nice and calm with cool waters. I had called in previously and mentioned about my wife being vegetarian, they suggested they would have vegetarian options but did not have much. My wife had less food during the lunches and did not dig the veggie burger pattie at the dinner. Other than that, great folks and definitely go rating with them again if I had a chance. May be just pack more food by myself.Our raft guide Karl was amazing, he plays music and we had a fun times singing our way along on the river with Karl playing his mouth organ to the beetles songs !

Fantastic experience. 2 days of rafting with dinner and camping in between. We will definitely be back. FYI - we are in our 50's

Over the past few years, my boys (now 12 &14) and I have had many exciting (but very safe!) whitewater trips with Mariah. Their guides are always entertaining, patient, and very experienced, their equipment in excellent condition, and their prices are unbeatable. We just did the middle fork on the American River, and we can't wait to get back again before the end of the season.

Hadn't rafted the American for 20 years and am glad that even during the drought, the same wild ride can be had. Mariah's support staff, crew, camp accommodations, and process are top-notch. My husband and I enjoyed a band of talented musicians who rafted -- then performed for the rest of us through wine tasting and dinner that evening! Very cool. We did the two day trip which gave us a chance to really enjoy the other rafters. Everyone had a great time during this two day party!
