There was great jazz music from a very talented Scotsman the night we were there. When we arrived we were the only ones there for a tasting, but that quickly changed! The servers were grace under fire, making sure everyone was being served & getting our questions answered. They have a great case policy: purchase 8 bottles, get 4 free. We loved their 2009 Chardonnay & a cab blend so much we availed ourselves of the case discount. Because it was so busy, one of the servers had us sit, fill out the paperwork for shipping and gave us each a glass of wine until it calmed down in the tasting room.

We visited MJA vineyards during our wine tasting trip to the Santa Cruz mountains. We came across this wonderful, cabin in the woods wine tasting room. MJA is the initials for the owner of the winery. Upon entering the cabin we were greeted with a roaring fire in the fireplace and the equally warm smile of Debbie. There was a large group already there and they were very jovial and friendly toward us. Debbie got us started on our pours. They have two flights, one for $5 and one for $8. The cost of the flights can be taken off with a bottle purchase. Debbie worked the large group and us well, keeping track of where she was with each group. The first group finished and were making their purchases and Debbie asked us to wait while she finished up with them. We didn't mind as the cabin had a lot of things to look at and standing in front of the fire was wonderful, with my generous pour of wine. We sat in the large overstuffed chairs in front of the fire while we waited for Debbie. Once the group bade her and us farewell, Debbie came over and sat in a chair with us as if we were guests in her living room. She brought the bottles to us to pour, so we didn't have to leave the comfortable chairs and warm fire. We must have spent almost an hour there talking to Debbie and learning all about the owner, Marin, and his winery and coffee business. When we were ready to move on, Debbie gave us her card and wrote "complimentary tasting" on it with instructions to visit the other MJA tasting room in the town of Santa Cruz. Look for that review in a differnt posting. You won't be dissapointed!
