Castle creek is affordable. Greens are in good shape and the course is always challenging, especially 10,11, and12 which we've nicknamed amen corner. The Gopher hole, the 19th hole, is great after your round ~ good food and good brews on tap. Rex, Ruthie, the starter (on Fridays forgot his name) all have great personalities and keep c.c. rollin. Thanks for the good times keep up the good work
They have really fell backwards. The golf course is dry and not well kept anymore. The little stand where you got hot dogs is not the same. The girl slow and out of things. They used to have this older lady in there and she knew how to impress you with kindness and her service. Don't eat in the restaurant because the service is the worst. The tall older lady doesn't know how to speak to you and always seems stressed out. The food was okay but took along time but the service did it for me. Horrible how they used to be great golf and food and drinks. Ugh
The San Diego area is not the easiest place to find inexpensive golf. Castle Creek does offer tee times in the $30 range. But, in comparison, you would probably be better off spending a bit more cash. The greens were in good shape. Golfers were forced to play from one tee box for each hole due to reseeding. The fairways for the most part were barely covered in grass. Many of my shots from on or off the fairway were made from hard pan. The pace of play was awful. I was waiting on every shot on every hole. There are definitely other offerings when it comes to golf. I will definitely take advantage of this in the future.
Attended a wedding on Saturday. The patio set-up was great. The bar tender's Chris and Penny were very nice and kidded around with all of us making it feel even more comfortable. Wedding was beautiful, band was great. Staff was very friendly, and Leann was great hostess for both the food and drinks. Great job all of you.. My friends wedding was a special day for all of us and all of you helped make it happen.
This is A very nice 18 hole inexpensive Golf Coarse. It surrounds The Tuscany Hills Resort where we stayed and Loved it !!
This is a very challenging course in a rural part of Escondido, CA. There are some serious carries across creeks and brush. There are some daunting uphill holes. And finally there are narrow fairways! It is a friendly place. One drawback if the lack of a driving range.
We have visited the Escondido area the past two spring breaks and golfed everywhere around Castle Creek, and finally on our last outing took the plunge - what a nice surprise. We teed off around 8:00 so things were still bit dewy and the greens a tad slow, but things dried up quickly and the green speed increased accordingly. While not Oak Quarry (my area fave), and with houses a tad close on some holes, this is a very interesting layout with some tricky holes. Overall course was in great spring shape and for around $35 through GolfNow, offered excellent value. If I was to return to the area, I would certainly play again, but would likely play from a longer set of tees than the whites as a number of the par 4's were quite short, so I was playing driver/wedge for a lot of them. Staff in the pro-shop and concession were excellent, calling us to advise that they had found my son's wedge he had left on-course. In all, a positive experience.
Enjoyed a round of 18 here on 11/14/2013. Course was in good shape, not manicured, but quite playable. Pace was good as we played as a couple with three foursomes in front of us. It never felt slow and we finished in 4.5 hours.Hole descriptions on their web site would have you belive this was a monster course, but it's not. The holes are challenging, but not impossible. Definitely worth a try especially if you are staying at the Welks resort down the road.
I've been playing this course for years. It's well designed and keeps my interest. Check it out.
