A little gem tucked in downtown Grants Pass. Be sure to stop by and take in the latest exhibits. Run by some wonderful volunteers!
I am from a big city so maybe I'm just biased here. I've been to many museums and art museums in my life. When my husband and I stopped by to enjoy some art we were completely disappointed. The art that was being displayed was extremely novice. It felt like a waste of time. It's a very small museum. This was based on just one visit. I will probably try going again to see if it was just a fluke, but I'm not holding my breath!
This small museum has outstanding art shows from around the country as well as local artists. Each month is a treat to see a new and interesting art display.
This Art Gallery is amazing! I've been to many galleries but this one stands out because of the wonderful selection of diverse pieces: wall art, jewelry, creative hand made cards, sculptures, and ceramics. The artists are all local and they seem to price very affordably. I was there at Christmas and was able to check off a lot of gifts. It felt great to buy original artwork rather than things that were mass produced in China. ( I probably would have spend about the same amount) My shopping experience was totally non-pressure. The artist working was really nice and helpful. She suggested visiting the museum upstairs which I enjoyed. It's located in downtown Grants Pass on a street with lots of charming cafe's and shops, so you can really make an afternoon of it.
The museum was in an old building upstairs. The exhibit was very good and the volunteer was friendly. Don't miss this.
it's so wonderful to have a local art museum that has excellent, refreshing exhibits. They represent both local and out of area artists.
Spent most of the morning enjoying the water color exhibit. The artist from Colorado was exceptional, with the majority being portraits. Vibrant colors, unusual depth, and portraits that expressed personality. The docent was helpful. We will go back whenever we get to Grants pass. Great restaurants close by, parking was not a problem.
The museum is very decent for a little town, works of art are dedicated to natural sights as well as abstract art, sometimes even performed by talented high school students who show an ability greater than their age could suggest. For those who equally like to partake of the verbal medium, each second Friday of each month, there is poetry gathering on the second floor of the art gallery, adding yet another lovely dimension to the overall ambiance.
This little gem offers exhibitions from international, national, regional and local art. Exhibits change about every six weeks. Highlights have been the American Watercolor Traveling show, Art Quilts from all over the world and more. Admission is free and the Museum is easy to find located right downtown in historic Grants Pass on G Street. Gallery One, the Museum's own gallery promotes over fifty local artists with the highest quality art offered at reasonable prices. Gallery One is located at the street level next to the Museum. No trip to Grants Pass would be complete without visiting Grants Pass Museum of Art and Gallery One.
