Great Hike to the falls but it was a little bet raining.. Road to drive there is closed... I hope to see it again in the summer.
Tumalo Falls is a great place to visit any time of the year although in my estimation it really shines in winter during a period of below freezing temperatures. Other times of the year it is a perfect place to bring friends who are visiting Central Oregon. The parking lot is small and it requires a Northwest Forest Pass from May through September or payment of a $5.00 per vehicle fee. If time permits, hiking above the falls is a great introduction to what the Central Cascades have to offer.
This hike was fairly easy and well worth the view! Great for picture taking of beautiful Central Oregon. It was a nice way to get some exercise and enjoy nature.
Tumalo Falls is always a rewarding experience, whether you're riding north fork or simply walking along the banks of the river - this place will reward your soul.
The road was closed for some pipeline work, so we hiked a trail through the woods to the left,(south side) of Tumalo Creek. The hike was about 6.5 miles from the Skyliner Parking lot to the overlook at Tumalo Falls.Today, in February, there was no snow. Not that we like that! but, it was a great day for a hike. The trail is a cross country ski trail, (if there was snow) and well marked with blue triangles. We went up and down, nothing very steep. Crossed the creeks and came to the falls. There is a parking area with a picnic bench, (all was closed, at it normally is at this time of year). Some of us hiked up to the Falls Overlook. Absolutly gorgeous! Some years we have snowshoed up the road, some times it was crunching through the snow. Whatever the time of year, this is a great treat! The Forest Service has a day use fee for the parking area, at this time of year....no fee.
We were a little surprised by the road to get there. We expected something more finished and tourist like. It was a very chilly day and the walk up was really cold but well worth it. The falls are lovely and we were the only people there. How special to enjoy the beauty alone.
We got caught in a rare deep November snow (11"), so our hotel staff recommended Tumalo Falls. We rented snowshoes from Pine Mountain Sports on the way out of town, then drove as far we could make it. Our round trip snowshoe trek to the falls was five miles and the 100' falls were gorgeous in the fresh snow. Well worth the trip, they were beautiful.
Glad to have the opportunity to visit this local wonder. Rushing water, blue skies, gentle breeze...easy hike up...what's not to like. A must see for visitors to Bend.
About 15 miles from Bend, OR with the last two up an unmade road but worth it. Parking is really restrictive and there is a voluntary charge of $5 for the visit. Very pretty waterfall that is made for some nice photos. Walk up to the top, it is worth the small trek.
not very far off the path and easy to get to.You can hike up beside the Falls to the top look out. There it is so pretty
We love the falls - great to hike to, or consider cross-country skiing to the falls. It's a beautiful area, and dog-friendly.
Great hike to the spectacular falls. Not a difficult hike, good trail. Bring your camera. The falls are wonderful~
This place is a little drive, but once you are there the beauty takes your breath away. It looks exactly like the pictures.
Don't let the 2-1/2 mile drive on an unpaved road deter you from seeing this beautiful waterfall. Take it slow and enjoy the ride. Stop along the way. The hike to the top of the falls is steep but not too difficult.
There are several hiking trails and a good view. There is still construction on the way but want too much of a hassle.
