I'm very suprised for it being such a quaint small crowd venue that the theater itself is not more beautifully decorated on the inside. When you walk in, all you'll see is a two color scheme wall that closely resembles that of a solitary confinement cell in a nut-house. This place has so much more potential and I think would draw a much larger crowd if they livened it up A LOT with a 20th century make-over look and give it true character. Instead it looks like an abandoned High school theater that was recently opened just after being repainted. Don't come here to see a show. Go to the Valentine theater downtown. or spend a few extra bucks to go to Detroit. Totally worth it. I take my wife and kids to Cleveland's playhouse square instead. Much better restaurant selections.
We've been to the Stranahan many times, but never when it was as full as for "The Book of Mormon." I ran to the ladies room at intermission to avoid long lines, and was tickled to see at least four attendants ushering women in and out as stalls opened up. I was back in my seat in no time!
Saw several great shows at Stranahan , most recently the annual christmas nutcracker ballet and Book of Morman musical. Was in balcony for nutcracker. Stairs can be an issue for anyone who has walking disability. There is no elevator how ever the staff did advise they have handicap seating if needed.Have seen many different shows here and never had a viewing issue.
I don't really know when this building was erected.. But it was that " 70s " feel on the inside..Tired, poorly decorated , cheap feel to everything... Mr Brady was the lead archetitict lolHowever, it brings in great first class braid way shows, and is right sized for the market. They also have a unique ticketing system..Enjoy, and het your broadway on !
Stranahan has many great shows and it is a wonderful venue. It is small enough that there are no bad seats in the house and it has great acoustics. They also have bar service in the lobby before many of the performances and also at intermission which is a nice plus.
This theater is in an easily accessible location with restaurants nearby. My friends and I have season tickets and usually go to lunch before the Sunday matinee. The plays shown have ranged from awesomely great to terrible, but most of the productions have been pretty good. The season ticket prices aren't bad. My biggest complaint about this theater is that it needs updating. Something that probably won't get done for a long time. The seats seem narrow and even with smaller people sitting next to you, you feel like you have to compact so elbows and knees don't intrude on someone's space. The ladies bathroom upstairs is small and there always seems to be a long line. Still I attend year after year because it seems worth it. I like getting out and it is not a hassle getting to this theater. Parking is free and plenty.
The big band sound was great. I have enjoyed the Toledo symphony last year and this time the Big Band. Never been disappointed with what they do here.
Cousin's wedding reception was here. GREAT place. Beautiful place to have a reception!!! Beautiful chandeliers throughout the place clean and well kept. I liked everything about it!!!
We attended a concert last week. We had a pretty good experience ushers were very nice and helpful! There was a few lighting issues throughout the concert but besides that everything was good!
The performance of Boyz II Men with The Toledo Symphony was amazing - a great blend of modern and classical music. I do wish that the seats at the Stranahan Theater were more comfortable and the acoustics were better.
Just went to see Jim Brickman and what a great show, what great sound, and the seats were comfortable, and the snacks and drinks to choose from was great! Thanks for a great experience!
We are extremely disappointed in the theater leagues lack of coordination with the Holidaze venue. We purchased tickets in the orchestra (row XB) for the December 1st show. Two hours prior to curtain we received a call informing us that due to placement of lighting our seats had been moved to row F. We were told that these were better seats. They were not and the performance was ruined thinking about how much better the seats we had purchased were. As well as having our view obstructed by the patrons in front of us. What a poor start to the Holiday season. We were regular patrons of the Stranahan.
We have been attending performances at Stranahan approx. 6 times per year for 7-8 years. Staff always friendly and helpful. We have seen stand up comedians, oldie rock concerts, and a wide variety of plays and other musical acts, always a nice way to spend a few hours.
I love going to Stranahan for any event. It is so easy to get to from the Ohio Turnpike and parking is plentiful. Others gripe about the sound, but I have never had an issue. In addition, there is not a bad seat in the house!
Went to see Rogers and Hammerstein tribute and enjoyed myself. I didn't think I would like that many show tunes in one evening, but it was nice. The theater is beautiful and the music was fantastic.
