It's nice to still have a drive-in! It's one of my fondest childhood memories and I love passing that along to my own kids. Big theaters are great, but it's fun to have the outside experience as well. This is a nice, clean drive-in. Go ahead - treat yourself to some nostalgia and bring your kids along for the ride!
This fall they have been playing old movies we grew up with. It was great to watch ET again on the big screen under the stars.
It has 4 screens and shows double features. You can move between screens. Be sure to visit the snack bar it helps support their Drive-in.Also if you stay at the Starlight Inn next door you get in Free.
A very fun drive in theater. You have 4 screens to choose from. The picture quality is pretty good. Just make sure to wear bug spray if you want your windows down. It's cheaper than going to a movie theater. I stayed next door so I didn't need to pay to see a movie. I brought my own snacks and that saved money. I didn't go to the snack bar so I'm not sure about those prices. The people who run the drive in seem to love what they do. The positive attitude enhances your experience!
Was fun to see a film the "old-way." Family had a great time. It was a Thursday night so the place was pretty quiet... hope they stay open until I can visit again :)
My kids and I really enjoyed going at this drive-in during our latest vacations. The personnel is very friendly. Nice choice of food. There is a park for the kids to play while waiting for the movies to start. Some commercials shown before the movies are several decades old which adds to the charm of the place because you feel you are going back in time. A+
Lived in Burlington for a few years.......I loved this place......I saw a "medium" review earlier which is baloney because this place is great. Is it a luxury, stadium seating movie theater serving gourmet food......no - but what kind of idiot would ever expect that. It is a great, fun way to spend a summer night. Go every other week and see two great movies for the price of one. Bring the mosquito spray!
We stayed next door and got free admission to the shows. Stayed for both movies and I was so impressed with the quality of the picture and selection of movies. The snack shack was also very good serving hot dogs, hamburgers, fries, etc. There is also a playground for kids and is pet friendly. We really enjoyed the drive in.
I have been taking my family and friends from Sweden to the Sunset for a few years now.Wonderful experience every single time! The kids love it! I love it! The Swedes love it!It is a piece of Americana that everyone should support. The price is great, wonderful setting that is fun for the whole family. Good food. Wonderful people with great service. First run movies shown on release dates. It does not get any better than this!
My husband and I were traveling through Colchester, VT, on June 20th, and decided take in a show at the Sunset drive in. It was not well maintained and acceptable at best.
Being in our 60's this place takes us back to the 60's when my wife and I were dating and went to the drive-in movies in our home town. They have closed all the areas drive-ins but whenever we go to Colchester, VT we never miss going to this drive-in and watching 2 great movies.Highly recommend.
Make your way to Colchester! VT. Bring a blanket or lawn chair, your own picnic and cold refreshments and sit back to enjoy the night air and a newly released movie or two. The price per person is similar to the local cinema. $7 to $8, but you get 2 movies and can bring your own refreshments. A great summer night of entertainment!
The classic experience of a drive in is something that many baby boomers grew up enjoying. And Sunset delivers a good one by offering many of thing things that make a drive-in work. Under each screen there is a playground to keep the kiddos happy leading up to the film. The snack bar has a grill so you can get you fried happiness along with the popcorn, candy, and soda. Most of the spaces are car audio via FM station but there are a few that still have the vintage hang in the window style of speaker. The double feature makes for a nice marathon of watching goodness. There will definitely be some challenges for drive-ins in the coming years with the end 35 mm film and the switch to digital only format. The investment of about $75K for the new equipment will be a real hurtle for every owner who has to balance his business against the modern economy. So come out to the Sunset while the watching is sweet and in the open air.
This is like the old drive in, but you get 4 choices. We go and set up lawn chairs in the back of my Baja and love it. Cheaper than all the local theaters...obviously you pay by the person. Also...since gone are the days of the audio that hooks onto your car, you will use your car radio (and battery) to hear the movie. It's not a bad idea to start your car for a few minutes mid-movie just to make sure you'll make it through the night. (There was also a very nice guy who went around at the end of the night and jump started cars, although I don't know if that's a nightly event.)
Great drive in theatre. We loved it, but do take some stuff with you to avoid being eaten by mosquitos.
