Visited friends that were members of the Island. We took a short ferry ride over and spent the day at the beach. It was very resort like and we felt like we were in a sandals resort.

We were very upset when we wanted to visit Fisher Island and was not allowed on the ferry. So we had to make do to see it from the ocean when we rented a boat. REAL MEAN PEOPLE.

We did the star island cruise over an hour a brilliant trip and we saw Fisher island particular interest as my maiden name is fisher what a place to live if you can afford it of course I think the lowest rent is $20,000.00 per month it is sat right in the middle of the harbour on an island spectacular....

This place is very similar to the Ocean Reef Club in Key Largo.Only super wealthy have access to the island. Definately not worth staying because prices are way too high.

This place is very reminiscent of the Ocean Reef Club in Key Largo. Like that location, access is severely restricted to the wealthy. Unless you're a rich guest of the hotel, a resident, or a resident's guest, you can't even access the property. Like Ocean Reef, Fisher Island is self contained so rich reclusive residents never have to leave for the mainland. There's a spa, beach, school, shopping and dining options, golf course, pool, marina, and even a private fire department (The firefighters must be severely bored most days, but probably have an extremely easy job and probably collect paychecks by watching TV all day) You have to take a ferry barge to get to the island, which residents are allowed to drive their cars onto. I've heard that Fisher Island has the most rich residents and expensive property per square mile of anywhere in the United States. There is a ridiculous amount of security guards patrolling this island. Do the residents really think that lots of criminals and thieves are going to invade the island by boat or swim across the channel? Yes it is a beautiful piece of property, but the snobby behaviors of the rich stuck up residents you will encounter as well as some of the staff sours the experience. Even if I were a millionaire, I would not want to live there.

No more glasses, no more silverware, no more napkins explained the waiter "but it is not my fault . . . We just can't handle this many people." The Beach Club was a zoo where it literally took hours to get a table and get fed. When the food arrived haphazardly after several reminders, both the quality and presentation were good, but the struggle wasn't worth it. The salad bar closed after ordering but before we could fill our plates and we were told "your server should have warned you," to which the server responded "they're not supposed to close the salad bar." The bill came replete with errors (including a charge for non existent salad bar) and extra food that never arrived that required a careful audit.

Fisher Island is a ferry ride across Government Cut - where the Port of Miami cruise ships exit and enter Miami. A very busy waterway minutes from South Beach...yet once you arrive...you are in paradise. Beautiful condos, homes, country club, beach, marina, restaurants and market. The main restaurant has one of the best chefs in the country! Life of the rich and famous! If you ever get an invite do not pass it up!

You can't go on this island because it is a gated community but we rented a boat and we rode around the island there are much nicer homes in the area than I saw on Fisher island.

HonestReviewsDallas

Why does Trip Advisor request a review of Fisher Island?! It's for millionaires only. Visitors can't go there.

The privacy and the serenity of this private island while minutes away from famous South Beach make this island a great place to live. Real Estate prices are cheaper than all of the very high end buildings in South Beach. Worth the time if you are considering a high end condo.

Liked the exclusivity of the island and being away from the hustle and bustle of Miami beach. Dislike you can't use any money at the restaurant or bar - if the member is not presently with you…you are stuck and can't order anything.

Well, it's pretty and all, and the ferry ride there is fun, but if you're not rolling, you might as well just drive on by. We visited for a party that was held there --the party was nice and the food was excellent, but as for the island, it just wasn't into us. When we went to the spa to change for the beach, we were told we might change clothes but couldn't use the "facilities" without a special id number. We didn't bother to try for the number. At the beach, valets brought out beach chairs and towels, requiring tipping for all kinds of things we'd rather do ourselves. A stay at one of the island cottages didn't even include breakfast, and the food at the beach br lokked just okay--although the ketchup there is called "tomato-onion compote.

Interesting visit but not totally enthralling and younger children would not appreciate it. I find it embarrassing for the tour guides to ask you to tip them.

Beautiful place to live or just have a nice place to spend vacations, although it is reserved for the rich and famous

statestreet75

It's an island you need a ferry to get to, and it's beginning to look a lot like any other part of Miami with mid height high rises under construction on a smallish area to begin with. Nice to know some famous people once lived there but that about it. Look at it from the new pier or take a boat tour that sails by but it does not get better than that.
