This casino restaurant is clean, has good food & good & friendly service. They have a lunch buffet that includes soup & salad bar different entre choices & dessert for lunch for $10. The buffet is fresh & the hot food hot & the cold food, cold.
You can't even see this place at night. I don't know if they are trying to save electricity or what, but they have hardly any lights and you can't see it from the highway. When we got to the building, it seemed like half of it was empty. I don't know if the casino used to be bigger and now part of it is empty or if they are expanding, but aren't finished yet. It is a small, unhappy little place. We threw away $20 in about 10 minutes, but neither of us was interested in staying any longer.
The food is good prices are good, morning breakfast is excellent & the price is also great daily specials. Wish they had a separate entrance to the dining room, you have to go into the casino to get to the resturant and they smoke in the casino
We always enjoy dining at Matazal Casino's Cedar Ridge Restaurant. The food is always outstanding and the salad bar is the best in Payson. Be sure to try the Ranch Dressing, by far the best I've ever tasted anywhere! If I had to pick one thing that I don't enjoy there, it's the time it takes for the food to arrive. Granted, it's worth waiting for, just don't be in a hurry when you eat there. Otherwise, it's usually the place we take visiting family or friends when we want a nice meal out! The fish fry on Fridays and Sunday brunch are also excellent.
Casino has dated slots and only a very small amount of table games. The table room is small and gets crowded. Slots seem fairly loose, won $180 within first 20 minutes. It is clean but drink waitresses seemed few and far between. You have to pay for your drinks but prices are reasonable and very large. Good well brands too.
The smoke is overwhelming. Everything taste the same. Service is not as good as what your probably used to. Value is good. $2 breakfast. you get your meal fast but good luck with the refill on your drink. Like many small town casinos... leaves you unimpressed
Not a big gambler, so Casino wasn't our attraction. We enjoyed our stay at the hotel, nice, quiet suites at a reasonable price. Good for breakfast and lunch. Many friends enjoy the buffet but I'm not as big a fan. Little smoky as most Casinos are.
We wanted to play the slots for a bit of fun and realized when we arrived we were starving. This is a smaller casino so perhaps I just assumed the food would be so-so. Pleasantly surprised. We played the slots for about an hour and managed to win about $40 between the two of us so we hit the restaurant. The service was good, although many tables around us had not been bussed yet. Seeing everyone's remnants of their meals around us was not so cool. Maybe they were short staffed--or their bussers just move at a leisurely pace? The steaks were ordered were delicious, cooked to order perfectly for each of us. We had fun and a good meal-- can't as for a better outcome than that!
Went for a meal first time in the restaurant, the food was good. They have an xbox game room where kids can stay for 4 dollars an hour so you could have a flutter in the casino. Went back a couple of times, second time had fast food there which was very good.
The hotel is great...upgraded and special. The casino needs new carpet, the bar is sad, the drinks are expensive and the slots are tight. Now that said the employees are wonderful and helpful and it is definitely got the good qualities of a small town casino.
What I liked the best is my husband & I won money. We actually walked out with more then we came in with. Dinner was very good. I recommend the ribeye...delicious. Of course the place is smokey...(except for the dining room)
The buffet was below average. We're buffet people and two of us opted for the menu items. They had three main course options, limited veggies and salad bar. People were friendly and service was good, but skip the buffet.
This is a smaller casino, but I enjoyed the layout. There seemed to be room between the banks of machines. We both won a little and had fun at the great selection of games. We were especially impressed with the dining room - it is one of the nicest in Arizona. We did not stay at the hotel, but we would certainly stop in if we are in Payson again.
I actually live close to the Casino. Haven't been there much. I used to gamble a little but I perfered the old casino to the newer one. One thing that annoys me is the stench of smoke as soon as you walk in. Not alot of people enjoy coughing there lungs out. The food isn't bad however but again most lose there appetite once the smoke comes in your face. They honestly would do better with an area for non smokers or at least have a door you can go in to get to the restraunt without having to step into the smoke filled casino. Its a good place if u can handle the smoke
I've always enjoyed this casino. It is large, modern, clean and well-designed. I've had my share of good and bad luck here, but always enjoyed the glitzy atmosphere.I've reviewed the restaurant, and consider it perhaps the best I've eaten at in such casinos (including many in Laughlin.)I was saddened, my last visit, to learn that they had removed my favorite machines (John Wayne, Dean Martin and Tarzan) and replaced them with what seems to be (everywhere now) a new set of rather bland machines with names like, "Fairy Princess," "Jungle Goddess," etc. I hope they'll be getting some better machines soon. They also have many of the exact same game - I counted eight of the exact same machines in one double-sided row - which is a downer if one doesn't like the game.So they could definitely get better - and a greater variety - of games for my taste.I've been in many Indian Casinos - from dumps to palaces - and this is still one of the better ones.
