gila county historical museum

While traveling through Arizona We stopped to find a Geocache, and were led to the Gila County Historical Museum. They have moved the Geocache inside the museum so to find it you have to go between the hours of 10 AM to 4 PM Monday through Friday and 11 AM to 3 PM Saturday. The museum is filled with the local mining history and gives you much pause to see what the miners of that era went through. A very clean well kept museum with a friendly staff, well worth spending an hour or so looking around.

Very nice museum with memorabilia about the area. The docents are friendly,helpful and have incredibly detailed knowledge of the area and residents.

Great displays of the history of the Globe, Miami, Claypool area. The docents are very knowledgeable and eager to show you about. Want to find out about a particular family? They know exactly where in files and books to get at the info.The Chamber of Commerce next door is wort a visit as well. Be sure to sign the visitor logs in both places or they will drag you back in. :-) Donations are appreciated.

The Gila County Historical Museum is a blend of early history ranging from Native American to territorial Arizona. Displays on ranching, early day printing, mining and plenty of exhibits will keep everyone interested, especially young ones who may have never seen a camera outside of their phone. The exhibits bring the lives of early day settlers into present day focus. The grounds feature pleasant picnic areas under huge cottonwood trees.
