Beautiful park with a huge lake and nice tall trees covered in moss. Good for a lazy day, picnic, or day on the water!

This small state park is on a very large river/lake. There are about 15 cottages and a tent and a RV camping area. Most people who visit are fishermen or birders. We are neither but were looking for an out of the way place to spend a few days with our dogs. The dog friendly cottages (2) were very clean and nicely furnished. Ours was a 2 bedroom 2 bath unit with a large dining area and large living room. The screened porch overlooking the marina was very nice. There was literally fewer than 5 visitors when we were there. It was perfect during the off season but might be noisy when the marina gets going when warmer.

This site is very clean. Our site, 39, allowed the kids to play on the playground in view while we set up. The bathrooms were very clean and heated, which was very nice when one night it was 28 degrees. The scenery was breathtaking and relaxing. We will definitely be back. The only bad thing is that they didn't enforce the noise ordnance.

The sites were overall pretty big with several having paved pull through sites that were level. ALL SITES ARE FULL HOOK UP! The people and staff were all very nice. The mini golf area was fun and well kept with cute obstacles.

We came upon this park during a road trip. Pretty sight! We noticed their pool and club house are not open any more which is a shame. If you have a boat and or u fish, this is a great place to stay. But beware of ur pets as we saw plenty of gators.

The purpose of the visit was to photograph Providence Canyon State Park so we did not have much time to evaluate Florence Marina except for the cabin. Fully stocked kitchen all utensils and cookware, plenty of glassware and serving pieces. Cookware was in like new condition. Lovely screened in porch off the back of the house with 3 rocking chairs, facing the woods. The park staff is welcoming and cheerful. The 'store' is very sparce. Don't arrive thinking you can stock your refrigerator once you get there. Mostly canned goods, none of the essential items, i.e. eggs and milk, are available. Nearest grocery store is 25 plus miles away on country roads so come prepared.Park pass issued with cabin also good for admission to Providence Canyon.

We visited this park because we have never been here before. We geocache and were getting the caches in the park and also our Canyon Climbers Club stamp for Providence Canyon. We really enjoyed the Kirbo Interpretive Center and the very nice lady who was in (I wish I remembered her name, we were there April 12, 2014) there gave us a really informative tour around and I learned a lot I didn't know about the park. It looks like they have a lot of activities at the Kirbo Center. All of the staff was very friendly inside the park office as well. We did the hiking trail which was very nice as well and saw a pair of Ospreys along the way. It looks like there is camping which would be nice if you had a boat or fished. Overall this was a nice little park to visit for the day.

Nice SP and quiet durinaneek but not so weekend. Nice mix of seniors, couples, dogs, fishermen. Fire rings and charcoal grills with picnic tables. Several large pull through all with water/sewers/30A-20A. This is a marina focus park. Nearby is Providence State Park and this was the real attraction for us. This a great place to go for 3 &7mile hikes but is strenuous and not for people who are out of shape. This place is in the boonies. Many sights to see nearby.

We just returned from this park. Had a great time! Small quiet park with easy water access. Staff was excellent. As other posters have noted make sure you have supplies if you are getting in at night. It's about 16 miles to a store. We got in at nightime in the pouring rain. Hard to see well driving through the park to see your spot at night. But that's expected. Level Sites. Nice pull thru sites. Ours was gravel. Reservations work on first come first serve. Can't pick a number until you get there. Great if you have a boat but I don't think it's necessary, we just fished on the fishing pier. We didn't really see any bad sites. Although it would be nicer to have the pull thru paved site. For things to do - Depending on which way you are coming from - take a drive to Columbus, Georgia. Fun little day trip for family with kids/or no kids. Nice small town. They have a kids science center. And make sure you go to Country's BBQ on Broad in downtown Columbus. The kids will love it. Desert is delicious.Providence Canyon is a must! Amazing thing to see that is not that far away. But if you leave Providence Canyon and see the signs telling you to go to 4-corner BBQ don't bother. Not worth it! BBQ was not that great.

Just returned from our 3 night trip to Florence Marina State Park. It was our first time there. We opted for an efficiency cabin. We were VERY pleased with the accommodations. Rate is $90 per night, which includes 2 double beds w/linens, full size fridge, stove, oven, microwave, cooking/eating utensils, full size bathroom w/towels provided. Cold A/C too. The efficiency units are four units side by side in one building. There is a covered porch and there is picnic table and grill available. We brought out own charcoal grill which is allowed. We are normally tent campers so we're glad we chose this route with all the rain the area has been having. This state park is ideal for those with boats. We don't have one but still had a great time. Fishing here is great. Interesting wildlife greats you daily. Owls, vultures and tree frogs were daily sightings. We even watched a snake (not sure, maybe copperhead) catch and attempt to eat a catfish. There is a large fishing pier that is lighted at night. We talked to a lot of locals and all night fishing is a common occurrence here. We caught bass, bream and catfish, all pretty good sized. Crappie seem to be an easy catch here as well. There are only a couple of downfalls to this park. One being the bugs... flies and gnats mostly. The only other downfall to note is that you are 16 miles from any gas stations, grocery store or convenience store. The trip to Eufala takes about 30 minutes and is very easy to find.8 miles from Florence Marina is Providence Canyon State Park. It's Georgia's version of the Grand Canyon. All in all, although a smaller park, it's one of our favorites now. All of the rangers we met with were very nice and friendly. The park needs some updating but was mostly clean/upkept considering the age of the facilities.

Ga. State Parks advises to stay at Florence Marina State Park if you want to go to Providence Canyon. We stopped in to check it out. Campsites are open, flat, and easy to pull through. The staff members are friendly. Unfortunately, if you don't have a boat, this park seems to be better suited as a home base for day trips (such as Providence Canyon State Park). All in all, it is a nice park, but you need a boat.
