the man with the two hats

The Man With Two Hats monument symbolizes dualities. It represents the end of the horrors of war but in the same vein the peace and freedom. It symbolizes the two countries of Canada and the Netherlands. The outstretched arms symbolize the liberation of the Netherlands and also the reaching out of country to country. With the donation of this monument, the Netherlands pays a lasting tribute to Canada. A statue identical to this one stands in Ottawa, Ontario. The twin monuments symbolically the solidarity between Canada and the Netherlands. The location is just on the opposite of "De Naald" a famous monument of Apeldoorn. It is not really an attraction unless you are interested in the history of war

Zowel in Apeldoorn als in Canada staat dit monument. Op de inscriptie kan je het verhaal er achter lezen. Naast dit monument is er een klein monument waar de omgekomen burgers tijdens de fatale Koninginnedag 2009 worden herdacht.Beide monumenten zijn de moeite van bekijken waard.

Het evenbeeld staat in Canada. Staat symbool voor de band tussen canada en nederland, de Canadezen hebben in de 2e wereldoorlog Apeldoorn bevrijd. Vlakbij het beeld is het monument van de aanslag op 30 april en de naald. Alles op loopafstand van het Loo, koninklijk paleis en museum.

The Man with the two hats is een beeld van Henk Visch, waarvan ook een kopie staat in het Canadese Ottawa. Het refereert aan de belangrijke rol die Canadese militairen in de 2e wereldoorlog in Nederland speelden en moet de dualiteit in vele situaties weergeven.Gelegen aan de Loolaan (vlak bij Paleis het Loo )
