Large forest park with three different routes to walk, each different lengths. Pond with ducks and swans. Lovely place for a picnic.
We always visit when in the area...from long walks with the dogs to sitting in the beautiful gardens to campsites and historic buildings to jogging, this park has something for everyone.Bring a picnic if the weather allows
Really nice for atmospheric photo shoots and also for runners. There is at least one run held here each year and there is loads of parking and a nice pond with ducks to feed!
We take our dog here on a regular basis. Fantastic place to walk with or with out dog. Will never tire of it
Good park but there is a cost to go in and the rangers could be friendlier. Overall it is an impressive spot. There is a great orienteering course and a pretty lake.
I have been a visitor here since i was a child. They have lovely walks, the ruins of an old castle, trees to climb and adventures to be had. There is a duck pond and little rivers. My youngest thinks it's Duckland from the Peppa Pig cartoons and I don't really correct him. As a child I remember it been better kept with Tea Rooms. However it's still an inexpensive place to visit with the kids on a nice day. Bring a picnic.
Drum Manor is a great spot for walking and running. Good variety to the trails and great scenery. My friends and I use the park primarily for training as the Black trail offers a good level of difficulty but it is suitable for everyone and for walking and running. Take the kids and feed the swans.
Drum Manor is a beautiful place. For decades, I have been going there to walk my dogs and enjoy the 'managed wildness' of the estate. There are short easy walks around the landscaped gardens and ornamental ponds or longer walks through the woods and forest plantations. An hour at a fast pace would easily take you around the longest routes. From time to time essential maintenance means a bit of untidiness in terms of logs, leaf debris and branches lying in inconvenient places but that is just part of the package. I do believe that in recent years there has not been sufficient investment in maintenance of the property but the staff there have always been courteous and caring. It is clear to me that they respect and love the place but could only work within their means. Work is ongoing to upgrade the facilities which have fallen into decline in the last 10 years or so. The Tea Room may be reinstated in the near future - I hear that CUDC is taking over the site. The entrance charge system has clearly been unworkable - I pay an annual fee but so many have clearly just flaunted the payment scheme and have therefore contributed nothing to the upkeep of the place. The management of Drum Manor has been sadly lacking for a long time. Ignore all the politics and enjoy a ramble around the place - despite everything it is lovely. The Bluebells there are only rivaled by the show at Lissan House & Demesne and Carndaisy Glen : Don't miss the experience Spring 2015. Do visit and pay your dues. That way it can only get better.
This is a park I have been taking my grandchildren for a number of years and they really enjoy it. There is plenty of places to have a picnic. The walks are beautiful the children enjoy feeding the ducks at the lake and they enjoy playing a the castle it is a park you can spend a few hours at and with plenty of space for children to run around you can be assured they will be tired when leaving. Although it is a pity their is no tea rooms were you could buy drinks or ice cream.
We arrived at the forest park after visiting the nearby (excellent) Wellbrook Beetling Mill. However, on arrival there were no staff there whatsoever, the place was completely deserted. We were able to open the gates ourselves and drive through onto the main camping area. Once there, again there was no-one about, however the doghnut rings around the entire area, litter and remnants of fire did not bode well. We decided to use the toilets whilst making a decision on whether to stay there - they were damp and unclean. Having seen more evidence that perhaps the site would be unsavoury (lots of beer bottles etc) we decided to leave for another site. The forest itself is lovely, and for walks a very nice spot. But I wouldn't camp here at all.
visitor centre was not open but the walks where first class. The lakeside and the many types of trees and plants is amust to go and see
The forest is a really nice walk. Many types of surfaces so pushchairs and high heels will mean you do not get to see the nicer wooded areas. The lake looks beautiful but is quite stagnant so not a good idea to let your dog off for a swim or chase ducks. The parking area is close to a nice tower which is in a garden that looks a bit rough up close but I am talking about a winter visit, maybe come summer gardens will be in full bloom. The shop/cafe not open any time I have been here but I don't expect it to be and just come for a good walk, so bring a picnic.
Open the tea rooms if only on a Sunday would be a gold mind !!Great walks Paths are bit mucky Rangers do a good jobPark entrance n more interesting facts about the tower would be great
We really enjoyed a visit here the end of July. Lots of open space, nice trails, and some unique spots - it was just a very relaxing and enjoyable time. The old castle ruins are quite interesting and some very old, wide, large trees that we don't normally see in our home area also captivated us. There were some swans and ducks in the pond, a little waterfall along the trail, some lovely flowers and plants, other old ruins, and some tasty raspberries along the trail that were ready for picking! After a picnic lunch, we took advantage of the open space and kicked a ball around with the children for a bit.The washroom facilities were also quite acceptable, at the entrance to the park. I would love to visit there again.
I visit this park most days with my dog and never tire of the scenery wilh all the wonderful trees and walks available. It is great for dog walking and there are plenty of walks to suit all. There is a garden and two lakes with ducks plus 1 swan. Really busy early in morning paths good but can be mucky in places there are two large car parks and toilets but no shop or cafe which is a shame. There is a tower to climb beside the house which was burnt down but not always open.I get a yearly pass which is useful and can be used in other parks owned by the forestry. The rangers do a great job but some people do not clean up their rubbish which is a pain for everyone else.
