Not the best weather? You feel like you've seen everything around the city? Tired of shopping? Want to get you brain some food too? Head to Universeum! A place for young and old to see touch and experience science and nature all in one go!
Don't run through this place, then You'll miss the most of it. We did spend almost a whole day there and we had fun.
This is an amazing place to visit in Gotheburg. The city is bit expensive and also the entry fee. But, worth visiting once. Must go for animal lovers. Aquarium and tropical forest inside is very nice.
Very modern building with a great concept: you start at the top and move downwards, which represents Swedish wildlife and nature from north to south. Quite often there was rather little to see, save for a toad here and there and some fish. The same applied to the jungle section. The climate was emulated very well according to a colleague whose frequent trips to the tropics make her a bit of an expert in the matter, but apart from two red, long beaked birds, a brown one and two monkeys, there was precious little activity. Things got better in the aquarium section with many colourful fish and some sharks (with a real whopper ominously drifting into view and disappearing into the murk again), and the snake terrariums whose inhabitants freaked out some visitors. The mammoth was a bit moth-eaten although still impressing with its size, but the space travel section seemed a bit tagged on and out of place in what is, to all intents and purposes, a natural history museum. Not bad for a rainy day, but Göteborg's manifold charms would warrant a day or two on their own if it's dry.
If you have children they will really enjoy it. Think it will be better in the summer as there was nothing in some of the displays when I went last month when it was still cold.
I was trying to think of what I could do to make this a four but in truth when my 6 year old does 3 hrs full on and demands to go back in for more you know this is a great place. Super value and child orientated....well done Universium!
This is a very nice science museum. Excellent for kids in all ages as well as adults. You could spend hours in this museum.
This is a really great place to take the kids, there is something for everyone... It's educational in a fun way... We go here at least once a Year..
The Universeum is a very well maintained science museum. All experiments are working and in good conditions. Great for kids, but also fun for adults!
Plenty of interesting things to look at both for adults and children. Some of the exhibits were excellent especially the ocean floor.
Universeum is a basically a science and activity-center with a zoological exhibition, some technology themes, activities mostly for younger visitors, the largest museum shop I’ve ever seen (ok, this is not really a museum, but anyway) and a couple of temporary exhibitions. There is a restaurant and a café close to the entrance. We had a great time, but spent only about two hours. I can see that we’ve easily could have stayed all day if we didn’t have other plans. The best part in my opinion is the aquarium-section with tropical fish, small sharks and other interesting sea animals. We also had much fun watching a turtle taking a swim. A bit of a disappointment was the mammoth-themed roof top exhibition, but I’m guessing small children love it!
Mostly for kids, but nice to walk around for adults too! Liked the room about space and shark feeding!Too many small ones around for the those very adult ones ;-)
Fun for the children to see the animals and play around with toys and technique. Not too many restaurants, but ok.
Great museum full of interactive things to do and look at.Me and a friend visited and we had alot of fun. The rainforest, aqurium and mammoth on the roof is definiately worth it.
