If you stand in Piazza Maggiore and turn slowly around, everything you see has been built prior to 1600...Beautiful setting!
This is the centre of Bologna. It's just a huge space, but can really be packed in the nighttime, especially if the Electric guitarplayer has brought his Motorpsycle.
You can see a lot of people at THE place. Although touristical place , You can be left hungry if you don't eat until 3 o'clock. Very difficult to get a taxi. Be careful with Your time to catch trains or Buses Because there is road repair now
The place to go if you get lost. Sunny, relaxed. Enjoyed it very much. A lot of shops near by, places to eat. Where the adventure begins.
The Basilica di San Petronia very good, well worth a visit. When we were there there was nothing in English and no-one there spoke English, my Italian limited so had to Google stuff about it when I got home. Please, if you want us to visit make it a bit easier for us.
Nice piazza to relax a bit and admire Neptune and the architecture around. You'll find the tourism office at the building in the center, that's helpful. There's a fountain where you can refresh or just have a drink.
This is a beautiful piazza. The statue of Neptune is the main attraction. It is quiet and clean.Off the side streets are many stores.Better bring your wallet because they are high end!
I just love piazza Maggiore. Not too far from it, under the portici in via Dè Musei it is possible to have a nice cocktail and good food ...
Here in Piazza Maggiore you can feel at home or, better, in one of the best places you have ever been. It's the italian atmosphere, it's the italian glamour, it's the italian style, all together. You can see nice architecture in every corner, you can see the magnificent Trito, you can see the impressin Cathedral or Palazzo d'Accursio, of course, everything seated at a bar, hving your coffee and enjoying the sunshine. Is it a dream? No, it is Italy. ;)
It is a very beautiful Italian square. If you are in Bologna, you have to pass by. It is a lovely place to see the culture and architecture.
many stores in the neighborhood, however don't search for any good souvenir stores. there aren't any big ones.
I live in this town and I walk through this place everyday and everyday I have the same sensation of space, history, richness and melancholy. I am addicted to Piazza Maggiore, especially during winter nights.
Piazza Maggiore ( Great Square) is a place where living is easy and people smiling to you.Dont miss it wehen in Bologna
I love the typical red/brown colours that characterise the surrounding buildings and I like how the little narrow streets nearby end up in this big open space.
So lovely of a place where the locals hang out on a weekend afternoon. Enjoyed watching the "bubble" man blowing giant bubbles for the local children who laughed and played. And in the evening, a romantic walk through the piazza with the moonlight over the Basilica.
