Learning about the history of olive and olive oil in Greece is opening more windows of cultural understanding than one can imagine. Very interesting presentation of old folk artifacts and machinery as well as multimedia interpretations and models. I loved it!

I order my olive oil in Seattle from Mistra. I love this museum, for the detail and care that has been put into every detail. It is aesthetically beautiful, and provides an exceptionally thorough education in the history and production of oil.

The exhibits were thorough and very well designed. They explained the history and industry of olives in Greece and how it effected the economy. There's a great collection of antique olive presses.

This was a few kilometers off our route but since we had been driving through olive country for a while and seen indications of harvesting that we were curious about, it seemed a good idea. It was.If you have the time to detour to Sparta or if it's on your route, take an hour or so to prowl through this museum. It is well laid out and informative.3 euro entry is really worth it.

This is a great museum. I recommend it for anyone visiting Mystras. It is in a very new building with excellent displays and stories of olive history and olive oil production and history.

If you are interested in everything on olives: go to this museum. Botanics, history, culture, production, really everything is found in this well designed and logic museum! Highly recommended.

Beautiful museum with a lot of information about the olive and olive oil and it's importance. A lot of pretty things to see, and it's worth going there. I don't even like olives, and i found this interesting!Wish they had more souvenirs at the museum shop though. Free entrance for students!

Clean and well thought little museum. Very small gift shop and a little coffee bar. I enjoyed the museum; my daughter not so much.

You really have to be interested in Greek industry and traditions to visit this place. As a museum, it's small, but quite nice. The shop is where it falls short; there are some souvernirs for sale, but the fact that an olive oil museum has no olive oil to sell is a bit weak. The guide did point me to some shops in town though.

On SW side of Sparti is a great museum built into an old power plant but with a modern addition. It is about the olive oil industry, political, social, economic and gastronomical. Very well done, Greek, German, and English information, as well as small gift shop with best olive oil options I have seen anywhere. Allow a couple hours.

This museum gives you the best and the simple explanations about the Olive Oil factory through the years. It is very well presented and it is giving all you need to know about olives and olive's oil.

We arrived at noon from Pylos at the Museum. There is a nearby parking spot for guests of the Museum which we appreciated a lot. Upon entering, we felt the airconditioning and took our time in exploring the history of the Olive. There is plenty of facts and if you are curious enough, you can go through all of them. The most impressing staff are the old olive presses. There is a small shop at the end of the exhibition even though I did not understand what they sell. I assume, it would be much better if they sell some olive oil or olives. Or may be, a sampling could be also organised. We were so much impressed by the one in the Old Olive Factory in Parga last year.

The Olive Museum is a nice way to spend 45 minutes in some air conditioning and to learn a little about the many olive trees you see in Sparti and in Greece. It's cute and has just two small levels with some old olive oil presses and descriptions of the many uses of olive oil back in the day. There is a small outdoor terrace as well and a little gift desk where you can buy some cool items.

It is brand new, well displayed and lit with a lot of information. A good way to spend a small hour in Sparta which ruins are really very low and interesting to specialists only.
