Wonderful small little town with an amazing amount of ski tracks on a combination of 4 mountains. It has a trainstation with a direct connection to Salzburg. The town center has some nice shops and plenty of restaurants. Very much recommended for a skiing holiday.
I would highly recommend to spend there at least a weekend. We came for just one day and unfortunately did not manage all slopes.
We've been at Zirngast hotel from 7.02.15-14.02.15 and were in all ways satisfied with our holidays accomodation. The hotel is situated in a quiet, cozy place nevertheless it's only about 10 min. walk to the ski lift. The personal is very friendly. The cooking in the restaurantis is higher than all praises. Thanks to all the staff and the owners.
The slopes are wonderful. The Schladming-Dachstein region is a member of "Ski amadé" .The Schladming 4-mountain ski complex links the 4 largest Styrian ski mountains – Hauser Kaibling, Planai, Hochwurzen and Reiteralm. 123 kilometres of pistes and 44 modern cableways and lifts Snow gourmets was very good.Variety of ski lodges, and culinary delicacies.Winter fun also away from the ski pistes;apres ski Hohenhaus Tenne Schladming is wonderful.
The piste guys did a wonderful job to have slopes open at Xmas when the Alps had little snow fall, plentiful ski slopes where open
We spend here fantastic winter holidays. Schladming has a lot to offer. You can choose from several nature activities or just relax, have a walks, go to spa or enjoy local food.
The town of Schladming has some charming restaurants, cafes, bakeries and ice cream parlours in its pedestrianised main street, making it a great place to chill at the end of the day. It is ideally situated for access to Planai, the Dachstein glacier and many other outdoor activities.
This is a classic little Austrian town within easy reach of many other interesting places. Situated in the beautiful Emms Valley, it has all the facilities a summer tourist needs. The cable car up to the Planai peak is lovely and the views and walks up there superb. Good shops, plenty of eateries and good hotels. We would come again.
wow, it is up 3000 meter above, and u can walk in to sky with steal bridge. ice ice every where ice. you need to drive up to reach the point where u will take cable car which will take u to main point. we loved it,however same or better place then this is in kaprun kithzhorn if you have not visited that 1st go and see that place and if you have already been there then this place u need to see.
Your lift pass does everything including local bus trips. In addition at the end of the day you can put your pass into a machine at the base station and it will print out your statistics for the day's skiing. The two main base stations are in the middle of town, the other two mountains are a short bus trip away or you can ski across to them and back. Most of the lifts are multiple chairs 4, 6,or 8 seats, some are heated. There is a really good beginners area with a poma and a T bar to practice on. Most runs are served by blue trails with a red run alongside, some of the reds are a bit blackish, some a bit blueish. The end of the downhill course at the bottom of Planai is 52deg., which is black enough for me!
Whereas you go to skii during the winter season or you go to see this amazing place sorround by the amazing and magnificient mountains
If coming to this resort make sure you check if its had a good snow fall. We had ice, and slush and man made snow. Runs are quite limited for both beginners and advanced. No black runs, little off piste. But the lifts are excellent. Schladming town is pleasant.
Schladming was one of last european ski-resorts that I never visited before. I will not be back. Slopes are nothing to write home about and they are not keeping them in good shape. Ski-lifts are ok and modern. Very crowded on the slopes. You get more for your money about 45 minutes away in Saalbach.
Schladming is a great resort for a capable skier. The 4 mountains are connected and easy to ski between. However beginners in our group found it difficult to get around using blues, the Hochwurzan is the best choice but beyond this you need to use the bus to get to other mountains. We also found many blue runs were only accessable by skiing red runs which is not ideal for beginners.Eating on the mountain was the usual Austrian good standard and prices are far better than France.
In Schladming they put a lot of effort in their slopes and the ski infrastructure and it shows.New lifts, beatiful and perfectly prepared slopes even free wifi! With 4 connected mountains it is a diverse place as well.
