maybe beacuse it was September we could find almost nobody there. The beach was just a beach, I wouldn't recommend in Septemebr at all

For previous reviewers who complained about this place being crowded - come again in September when it, and most of Keszthely for that matter, are almost closed. As such, we didn't spend a day here but I wanted to give a review to reflect my impressions of the Keszthely lakeside area. There has clearly been a lot of money spent here (courtesy of the EU no doubt) and there is lots of pleasant parkland, benches, promenades etc as well as the bathing facilities of the strand. It is all rather impressive - even on a wet Sunday morning in September!

My family and I had a great time here 2 weeks ago. There is a lovely atmosphere to the place and it s so cleanAnd plenty of room even when it is very busy.

I am sure I would have enjoyed it, as there is shade, there are clean toilets, the beach itself is celan and comfortable, there is a bar ad the water access is good. So I do not mind paying for the entrance, as everythign they provide was worth paying for. However, there were so many people we decided we'd rather not have a swim and went straight out.

There are 3 places in Keszthely where you can bathe, but after seeing Városi Strand, we didn't bother finding the other two. The entrance fee is quite expensive if you plan on going every day (890 HUF this year) but good thing that after 7 pm they let you in for free. It's pretty cold to go in the water at that point but you can have a nice walk on the Balaton shore. There is a sandy beach-like part where you get the feeling as if you were at the sea. Kids and fathers love it because the water is shallow and there is a lot of potential for sandcastles. The water is quite warm if you have at least a week of 30+ degrees behind you. Water temperature is at about 27-28C during July and August. The place is clean, it has many facilities such as nice playgrounds, places where you can eat things from simple lángos to steaks and pasta, a nice pool in the shape of the Balaton lake, waterslides (not included in the entrance fee) etc. This summer there is even a beach-library installed with books and magazines to let even in German or English languages. We spent a week at Keszthely and we went to Városi Strand almost every day enjoying the fun of sun+sand+water combined. You should try it also!

If it were free, it'd be okay, but costing $3, it was too expensive for a small, carnival-like grassy area. Better to go to Lidos or Libas strand.

If you have water loving kids this is the place to spend a day or two. My 6 and 9 year old daughters loved to play in the shallow water for hours. Arrive early as the beach can become quite crowded in the afternoon.

A quaint, beautiful beach with shallow water. Swimmers must go offshore minimum 200 metres to swim normally. Entry fee 890 HUF, 490 after 5 PM.

Nice, clean beach. We skipped the sandy part and settled in the shade on the grassy bit further away. There are watercycles for hire and a waterslide that is out of order. We spent half a say there and had an excellent lunch at one of the stands.

You had to pay to get into the area which was crowded with people, full of children peeing in the water. It's good to have a toilet and a shower, but we found it was better to be on the grass just outside. There it was not so crowded and you could easily get into the water there too, even though you had to be a bit careful getting into the water because of some slippery rocks on the bank.

Costs money to get in. Two little beach areas the rest is grass. The pool and slide are closed. Food outlets and souvenirs aee available. Lake is rather dirty.

What's not to love about this place? Beautiful views, lots of food, great playgrounds for the kids, 2 different sand beaches, mini-put, bumper cars, a 3-4 storey water slide that goes right into the lake and the best pool I've seen in years (shaped like Lake Balaton). Sure you pay to get in but then everything else (lawn chairs and water slide) are included. Washrooms were clean too. We spent 4 days here the last week of August and there was hardly anyone there. Some of the best days of our trip. Will definitely go back. Highly recommend (during off season - can imagine it's packed otherwise).
