Nice grounds, great playgrounds, perfect for a family day out. A bit on the expensive side. Special: the amur tigers and the manatees.
The Odense zoo is beautiful! It is very apparent that they take good care of the animals. They all look very well kept. Staff is friendly and knowledgeable and usually willing to answer any questions. Favorites were the little tigers, the turtles and the sloth.
A lot of intresting Animals, in good condision, and frindly inclosers. En masse spændende dyr, i god form og dyrevenlige folde og stande?
The zoo is vast enough to spend several hours with some nice areas to have a picnic or some snacks / ice creams. You can come close to most of the animals and see all of them almost every time you visit the zoo. There are good chances you wil see some babies too since the zoo gets plenty every year and from a lot of species.
We have a habit of going to zoos whenever we travel and the Odense zoo is certainly very nice. It is clean, easy to get around, and interesting. WE specially liked the tiger attraction and the giraffe feeding. The monkeys are hilarious to watch too. I find this zoo specially attractive because there is always something going on, all you have to do is plan your day to catch it all.
I really enjoyed my visit here. My family and I including my small 18 month nephew had a day out at the zoo over the Christmas period. I felt the set up of the zoo was great some great viewing areas and some hidden ones you had to go through tunnels to get to. As it was winter and light snow it wasn't busy but we still got to see a lot of the animals.
Many nice animals to be seen - especially the penguins landscape is outstanding with its shifting oftemperature and light to match the original surroundings, where the penguins originally are living.
I've been to many zoos. I used to work at one, so they are very dear to me. I wasn't expecting too much when I came to this one, and boy did I really underestimate it! It was a chilly, autumn weekday, so it wasn't very crowded (the best way to see a zoo in my opinion). I always wondered how a Danish zoo would be able to house animals from warmer climates, and the Odense Zoo exemplifies a perfect way of doing it. Nearly every exhibit has an indoor enclosure, and since the animals spend a lot of time in them, there is plenty of access for the public to see them. Yet, they still have many places to hide and get away from the people. This is always the most important thing I look for in a zoo exhibit. I was amazed at the diversity of the animals they housed and got see some that I've never seen before. Overall, it was a great experience and well worth the money!
Lots of space, animals and interesting things to see. You can easily spend the whole day here. Lved it and the kids loved it too.
great place for kids and adults....very beautiful ..i love the big Tiger Igor ..he owns a place in my heart ..i see him every morning when i have my morning run...
The zoo is cool in itself. Coming to the place by sea way only adds to the experience. Do it.The zoo has nice exposés and feeding shows.I found the aquarium and monkey cage to be the highlights.Tip: Bring your own food and save money.
Great place for kids very educational.enjoyable day for all ages.Remember to buy tickets online as queue is too long for kiddies around 3 to 4 years of age
Well positioned in the surrounding environment. Original set up with nice educational things to discover for kids. Compared to other zoo's really a good one! My favorite was the Latin America, amazon and penguins area. Tips: most feeding/shows (and access to squirrel monkeys) are in weekends only.
I was skeptical of the "Best Zoo in Europe" as the fine print indicates it is for medium size zoos. However, it was very enjoyable with nice environments, playgrounds, and cafes. Not being a Danish speaker, I was a little worried about the English language as the web-site was very limited, but exhibits are well labeled in Danish, English and German. Ample free parking was also available. I prefer the Odense Zoo to the Copenhagen Zoo.
Really enjoyed our visit with our son. Lots to see and do for kids. We fed the giraffes which was a lot of fun :) Highly recommend buying tickets online, we did and avoided a massive queue.
