It's recommended that you do the last trip on the Teleferico and catch the sunset from on high. Not possible in Summer unfortunately, as the last departure is at 7.30. However, it's a great ride with wonderful views. The cool breeze and the panorama below is well worthwhile when you arrive too. On the day I went it was women's day and all women received some very pretty flowers. It all added to the friendliness and general excitement of what was, for most people, a family outing. Great fun!

It offers a nice view of the whole city but it is a bit expensive. You can also go to Cerro San Bernardo by taxi and you can have a great view from there. No need to go by tram.

If you are visiting Salta and the weather is good, don't miss the Teleferico and the view from San Bernardo Mountain. For Mountainbike fans: you can rent a bike and ride down, all-day tickets are also available!

It is a short tram ride up the side of the mountain. Great view of the Salta area. Wasn't expensive and there is a little cafe on top. We only had a beer.

The views really aren't that spectacular. If you've got limited time or not much on the agenda,, have a go at it but it's really not that interesting. I was there on a clear day and you can certainly see far but the city isn't that impressive, nor are the local mountains from that vantage. Kids would enjoy it though and there wasn't much of a wait. There's an interesting water park (not the kind you play in, but pretty nonetheless) at the top along with some refreshment stands and souvenir shops.

Well worth the admission fee of 85 pesos. Takes about ten minutes each way. Really good views of the city. Restaurant, bathrooms and artisan market at the top. Small man made waterfalls are nice to see. Large park and small lake across the street. Lots of food vendors if you are hungry. About a 25 minute walk from Plaza 9 de Julio.

Salta is a checker-board low rise town filling a large valley bordered by featureless hills. Looking down on it from a height of 2,000 or so ft tells you nothing about it, and such ground level landmarks as it has vanish into thin air the higher you rise. The view from the 6th floor of our hotel was worth twice what we paid to get to Coney Island in the clouds ------ a cynical family funfair whose sole purpose is making money for its operators. Save your pesos for something worth while.

The cable car, is a cable car. It costs $A 85 for a return trip and $A 45 for a single. Once up the top you get good views of the city and there are a few interesting features on top of San Bernado. The cafe was closed ( it looked as though a party was there the night before), the usual Touist shops and a gardens with a waterfall feature. Also at the top is an alternative way down, by Mountain bike. Overland Salta will guide you down a 40 minute ride which is not strenuous and in fact good fun. Be warned of wind burn on hot days though. The ride down costs $A 100. And your provided with all the kit. At the end of it there is a 400 m. Walk back to the Teleferico. And that is it.

A beautiful ride to the top of the cerro and a magnificent view of Salta and the surrounding area. Take the time to have an empanada (surprisingly good) and a beer and take in the beautiful scenery.

Nice smooth ride, great vantage point of the entire city, cool temps, calm atmosphere make this a must when in Salta.

First, make sure you go on a sunny day. If you go on a cloudy day, it will be a waste of time. In the summer months, that means going up in the morning before afternoon clouds and rain come in. The entrance is located just a few blocks away from the downtown area. Tickets are not expensive. You can get a Salta guide from your hotel and there is a 30% off coupon in the guide. I think I paid 120 pesos for a return trip. When I was there, there was just a short line and I waited no more than 5 minutes to get into the cable car. It takes about 10 minutes to get to the top and you really have some nice views of Salta city.

You don't have to take the team. 45 pesos for direction We walked on the road The view was very nice, and we did it in 45 minutes up

Got a better view and understanding of the geography and also the amount if tourist in December. Tram not needed since there are better ways.

This is a very nice place to go and relax, very calm, lots of birds singing all the time, and a great view of Salta from the top of the mountain...

The tram itself and the view from the top were nice. However we went on Sunday and we had to wait 1 hr in a huge line... which spoiled the experience. Plus there was a crowd on the top.
